I completely agree with you. For personal office use I have a MacBook Pro. I've recently attempted to replace it with the latest Samsung tablet with keyboard, using Dex. (I strongly dislike using an iPad) While the tablet is maybe 80% of a substitute, I find it too complicated to use for most purposes, compared with the laptop. The ability to multitask and have multiple windows, while it seems to work well on a folding phone, ends up feeling cluttered and confusing on a large screen.

For me, the Samsung tablets with Dex have been a life saver for light work on documents when traveling. I only take the laptop when I need to do some Photoshop so that saves my back when on the road. It works alongside laptops rather than a replacement 😊

I think tablets are great. Especially for media consumption 👍

Apple will make you want to buy both devices so they have to artificially limiting its capabilities, and there is no way Apple will make iPad more "laptop" because of that reason.

Another grate video Mike. I've still got my 2019 iPad mini and I stopped using it after a few months. I do think that foldables are the successor to tablets. Plus, who needs to waste there money on a bulky heavy blown up iPod touch.

I don't know if they are dead but they are certainly in need of the next "thing" in terms of software to progress. At this point Apple are just doing hardware bumps to keep the dollars coming. Still interested in watching Samsung and Huawei develop in the software space however :)

I completely agree, I thought about the new Vivo Pad 3 Pro, but I have a super high-end PC and my Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and I just couldn't think of enough instances that I would actually use a tablet to justify it.

What iPads are good for are dads who want to game but not get a console to avoid even more dirty looks from our spouses hehe. As an avid mobile gamer (Warzone Mobile and CoDM), the m4. iPad Pro is my equivalent to a gaming PC for me. Foldable phones are not good for gaming due to lack of sufficient cooling (I have a one plus open and ZF 5).

The tab s9 and Xiaomi tablet are still fire . Tablets have phenomenal speakers some of the best ive owned in the tab s8. The ipad has too many limitations for me software wise

I pick up my new iPad pro 13 today, the display is amazing. I have the s9 ultra as well, I am excited about the new iPad. I've used my iPad pro for years, the apps created for iOS are not only better, there are more iOS apps for ipad

Actually,, with foldable phones and laptops, there is very little need for a tablet these days. Companies keep making tablets because consumers keep spending their money on them.

I agree and I don't agree. I agree that tablets aren't anymore a mass market form factor. Phones/Foldables on one side and Laptop on the other side are the de facto standard form factors for most users. The key word here is "most". Apple are not stupid. If we know this, they know this too and they've known before us. So why are they insisting on this form factor to the point of introducing what is arguably their absolute best hardware in years? I have to guess that it is because the sum of the small niches is big enough to deliver some respectable ROI. And I suspect, they understood that the ROI can only be achieved with very expensive devices. What are those niches? Your guess is as good as mine. Artists, Photo/Video editors on the go. etc... None of these niches is big enough for sure. I use my 12.9" iPad daily to read magazines, newspapers, books, etc. I hate doing it on a small screen (even a foldable one) and I don't like doing it on a laptop because it's bulky and not comfy on a couch. Do I need all the performance, of course not. But I absolutely love a great screen. Could I use a Samsung tablet, sure, but not everything is available for Android and not everything runs as smoothly without any formatting hiccups. And not every device is so convenient to move stuff to and from my MB Pro. I believe there are enough small niches of people like me to make Apple continue to invest in the iPad. Each of us has to decide whether it's worth our money or not. For most people, you are right, the answer is absolutely not. And even for those, like me, who still like the form factor, is it worth spending money on upgrading from previous generations, absolutely not. But if your iPad is getting old and it is being used often, then this new generation is as good as it gets and will please the happy few who can afford it.

Hey I had a question for you @AverageDadOfficial Would you want to trade your x fold 3 + 300-400 in cash for an x fold 3 pro, so you can have time to do more content on it and I could get the fold 3 that I decided I would prefer over the fold 3 pro because of battery life? You said yours is the 512gb 16gb ram version right? I have the x fold 3 pro right now but am thinking I would prefer the regular model now and knowing you and wanting to create content I figured you might be down for that kind of trade. Do you have an extra Honor Magic V2 for sell too? I want to get my wife that one cause she loves to draw and I want to get a stylus to go with it.
