Tyreke Evans wanted to go to Villanova. Jay Wright had him on their recruitment list but then said no. Evans ended up at Memphis instead because he wanted to be a "one and done." Jay will chose players to fit the culture, not the other way around. He will continue to do that in the future.

Christian Highland. Yea you should go rewatch the video or simply read my comment right because if you watch the video you will clearly see him or hear him say that there are 5 reasons to why Michagan will win and you should also watch the video in which he talks about the national championship and how there is only 9 teams who could win and in that video he also says there is no possibility of any team below a # 8 seed to win or make it past the first round and look what happened loyola ,buffalo,kansas state,syracuse,umbc marshall ,florida state and there are many other teams that got past the first round or upset the greater team oh and also out of the 9 teams he said only 3 made it past round of 16

Colin is a spin master. He acts like we can't look at video from yesterday. Colin's case yesterday said Michigan had enough to make it a one possession game and that Michigan had better defense and head coach. No he puts down the quality of the Michigan team. At least stay consistent with your own takes.

Metrics wise, this Villanova team was elite of the elite. Most 3's in college basketball history combined with the most efficient offense in history. Think about that. Thats impossible to do both. And they did. They were also elite in def efficiency. As for their "losses" this year, 3 of the 4 came when missing 2 starters. The 1 game they lose at full strength, at Butler, Butler shot 15-21 from 3. Villanova was THAT good. You literally had to play a near perfect game to beat them.
@neetrab
@neetrab 5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Only reason they lost (maybe aside from their butler game) was due to injury to starters or they would've had a perfect season.

One thing I've never understood. Why would a high school All-American go to Duke to be on the same team with 3-4 other high school All-Americans if you intend to leave in one year? What are the chances of distinguishing yourself? Why, if you are Duke would you try to recruit 3-4 high school All-Americans per year if there is the possibility they are all going to leave in one year?
@neetrab
@neetrab 5 жыл бұрын
To answer both questions; to win a championship. It's almost like wanting to be on a super team. Like NBA players and coaches try to create. The student athlete looks at who they'll possibly be playing with, just like the coach tries to create a super team if they can. The student wants to go to the NBA, yes, but also want to win. And that gives you more tv time, more recognition. But also...if coaches/schools are paying you (which is obviously illegal) as a recruit to come to their school, usually they go to the highest bidder. That's my belief.

Retrospect: Bridges and Brunson starring on NBA teams, Donte and Paschall contributing as starters still, Spellman was a first round pick, and Gillespie and Samuels ended up being great through their college careers, making it to the Final Four again. The reason they were undervalued as talents at the time was because they played team-first, unselfish basketball, and none of them out-shined each other. The success of Villanova players in the NBA recently proves that. Whitlock was wrooooong about Brunson. Not only did they win the NCAA tourney (some of them twice), but a lot of them were drafted, and all of them (outside Spellman) have exceeded expectations at the next level, with those expectations being ridiculously low because the "experts" thought the way these buffoons did. All time great team.

Cowherd predicted Villanova would lose multiple times in 2016 and 2018. He doesn't know what the heck he is talking about and is a total hack. Jay Wright is very nice to him, even though Cowherd roots against Nova passionately. He will continue to be made a full of by Nova's success. Also, Duke did fail in the following year and Brunson is a solid NBA player. Most commentators are hacks.

I would like someone to tell me the average age of the top 8 players on Nova's team. " These are grown men, 21 year olds ..." Cenzo's a soph, Brunson's a jr., Spellman's a frosh, Paschall and Booth are older, Gillespies a frosh, Bridges might have been 21, DC-R frosh. I think that's three who might have been 21 and five who were somewhat less. Just Sayin.

all these well known sports analysts (skip bayless, Shannon sharpe, Stephen a, max k, cowherd, le batard, kornheiser/wilbon) are all embarrassing. not a single one of them know college basketball yet all day talked about Villanova being all time great or just average. then they ruin their credibility by mentioning the NBA/prospects. uh. no. Fultz was called the next James Harden before his shoulder. His team was atrocious in college. The year before Simmons and Ingram were called a poor man's LeBron and KD. Simmons didn't even make the tourney bc he couldn't lead his team to anything. Ingram was bounced by an inferior Oregon team. Stop it. Just don't even talk about it bc you don't know the sport.

Albert edmond I love basketball. it's the purest form left. you have to actually have strategy and skill. high school basketball is horrible in America. basically a glorified pick up game. same goes for the NBA. the reason ppl don't care for basketball is bc there's few basketball fans alive. most just care about stars, dunks/crossovers and analytics. 4 things that may do you well in the NBA, but you can't get by doing that in college. you also get to/have to play defense in college or you're going to be benched. nobody in the entire NBA plays defense aside from 10 guys. your coach gets mad at you, you have him fired if you're a star. I know it's a midget compared to the NBA. but it's all basketball purists have left.

Spellman would've played his first year but wasn't allowed to just because of his academic situation. It wasn't by choice, believe me. Jalen also played his first year. Some players on that team don't due to injury, also.

Is it just me or does it look like that every sports analytic show is scripted? Its like these sports network are consciously positioning a GOOD guy vs BAD guy square-off event to make it all interesting. Skip Bayless vs Shannon Sharpe. Stephen A. Smith vs Max Kellerman. Nick Wright vs Cris Carter. Colin Cowherd vs Jason Whitlock. ETC. I mean..... somebody has to disagree! Here I thought Hollywood and WWE was the only entity that is in the Entertainment business. Sports Network is also in the show business.

How would they "crush them" when Nova shot lights out from the 3 pt range for most of the year??? The teams back then didn't use the 3 ptr like that. Hard to win against a team shooting 50% from the 3 putting up 20 3's and your team is mostly shooting 2's (like Kansas was doing as they got blown tf out).
