Shooting RAW, if you press "OK" for certain photo, you can generate more JPEGs with different Film Simulations (literally, 3 seconds job). Also, you can do a bracket to generate 3 different JPEGs automatically. These Fujifilm cameras have an in-camera photo editor, such a powerful tool and I don't see people talking about that. Just in case someone is not aware...

It's a bit older camera but I still have a big smile on my face using my Olympus Pen F. You can adjust so many things in it that you hardly have to do any post-processing. Yes, it takes a 'lot of time' but that's part of the fun. So I call it my Zen F Enjoy your camera

Congratulations and I'm already following you. Oh, editing JPEGs isn't a problem, since I prefer shooting on film. It's more about the process than the result.

If you download the Fuji RAW app, shoot with both a film sim and RAW, you can then use the camera as a RAW management tool to test different sim looks and do post adjustments. Always a good back up strategy but large files. As an old hand who used to use all the original film stocks from Fuji, the latest sims are pretty accurate. As the film sim mode, and the web site, tell you which is best for what, you can quickly learn the ideal sim. Of course, as others pointed out, you can use the film sim bracketing within the camera, so say Velvia, Reala Ace and Acros. After my first 1000 shots I favour Velvia for landscapes, Standard for cities and Reala Ace for a standard high quality look.

I shot a lot in raw and using the built-in raw converter until I knew which recipes I used the most to trust them. I still use raw for night views to set correctly the white balance, but by day I am happy to use my modified Ritchie's Ektar 100 recipe and, only at midday (harsh light here in the Peruvian highlands near the Equatorial line), I bracket the exposures to use the focus merge option in Affinity Photo to have a nice extended tonality without looking HDR and preserving the Fuji colors. Sounds cumbersome but I get the colors I want without raws, or RAFs.

Good point. Shooting jpg/heic will give you the original Fujifilm look. No layer between....RAW editors just interpretate the data, and this might be different than original Fujifilm. I shoot HEIC/RAW.

Have you tried the high speed flash sync? It's the true photographers geek feature, I never shoot in raw with my Fuji's, I do use the film sim. bracketing ocasionally though, it's faster to delete than edit, which I'm tired of doing. Get something I dont want to edit because it is already perfect (for me) in the 99% of cases. And I got it. Now I’m in the same trip but with the Ricoh GR III HDF. Hey great video. In my opinion film simulations are way too overrated by Fuji users. I still shoot RAW + JPEG with my XE4 because I can recover highlights and shadows. Knowing that I can get a better image I don’t see the sense of shooting only JPEG. That’s only a miss opportunity as you said in your video.

There is really no film simulation either by Fuji or anyone else. These are just profiles with the word film attached to them. You want the proof then shoot the same film at the same settings at the same time and compare the results.

Your comment is typical ignorance of what Fuji engineers do. With ACROS for example they produced an algorithm to re-create the original ACROS film grain, the texture changes as you go from light to dark areas. As ISO increases, the algorithm increases this pseudo-grain. Fuji engineers used their decades long knowledge of their film stocks when developing the simulations, I am sure they know more than you do about Fuji film stock.

@@JackBurton-qp4hc Don't lecture me about what Fuji does or not. I couldn't care less. Over 50 years of photography has taught me how to make Tri X 400 almost grainless in development, or how to make Fuji Across or Delta 100 act like a grainy fast film. It's the developer, the developing technique, exposure at the time of making a photograph and the agitation pattern that make the film behave like a film, not a stupid flat profile based on the standard dev time with a standard developer. Any film particularly a black and white film has so many looks that it can be made to exhibit, that if Fuji wanted to emulate them all then they'd need another menu system. So please go and lecture someone else who is ignorant. I know perfectly well what the hell I am talking about.
