My wife's best friend is a single mom. She comes over and tells my wife how lucky she is to have a guy around and it shows through the kids. We really do learn a lot from seeing our parents interact with each other I watched my mother get up at 5:30a every morning to make my dad breakfast before work and then she would hop on the treadmill. Since I was a small Black child I had a fascination with foreign languages. I would daydream in class about being able to speak Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Russian etc. In high school I took advanced placement French, and in college I did as many study abroad programs my academic calendar would permit (France, Madagascar, Russia). After doing the Peace Corps (Morocco) in my 20s, by my early 30s I was fluent in French, Arabic, and Turkish. The unexpected result was my dating pool (and social life) exponentially expanded. When you understand a language you develop an understanding of that culture. I am at ease conversing and flirting with Turkish, Arabic, and French-speaking women in THIER own language. I really feel sorry for any man who can only speak his native tongue.

And how my father showed strength, dedication, relentlessness, _sternness_ in handling business.
