I thought these were interesting, I knew they never grew in populartiy, but defineetly a valid and bold move by some companies because that pe-foam sound was getting extremely popular!
#q: Is this a useless gimmick?

just installing a whole peace of pe foam is much easier

im 10 months late but I'm pretty sure this method is dampening sound a lot more. a single piece of foam isn't the best at blocking out reverb, multiple pieces of foam close together should theoretically work a lot better

@@JianGangZheng I don't have personal experience with the product in this vid. However, I've noticed that shredded foam does cover/dampen my keyboard better than a single fitted piece of the same thickness. I'd imagine this is a similar concept(?) but just a cleaner install.

Thats just the difference between the sound in those keys. My G is deeper sounding than my H on every keyboard I have.

There are many different factors as to why that is! What boards do you have by chance?

@@jepsei stock Montech Mkey TKL with lubed gateron g yellow pro 2.0s with cerakey caps, stock Ducky mecha mini with cherry browns, Mammoth75 with WS Morandis lubed and sound dampened also with cerakey caps, my old corsair gaming keyboard with cherry reds, and my logitech k830. All of them the G is deeper than the H. Just has to do with where the keys are on the boards and the particular sound they make there. Same thing with the J and K keys and D and F. Whatever is closer to the middle which seems to be G for some reason is deeper.

It’s similar but not quite the same. PE foam sometimes is a bit tedious but in my personal opinion the sound is quite spot on. Depending on other foams/board config/ and mounting style

It’s basically the same thing. I would honestly recommend doing the PE foam mod tho cuz it’s a lot more practical, being way cheaper, and it’s a lot faster to do too. You don’t have to put a crap ton of individual switch pads on each switch.

I did both the pads and PE foam mod and it sounds so poppy and creamy!
