I've used auxbeam lights for 5 years now and find they are more than adequate for off road use. If I was running 120mph in the desert at night I would consider the high end lights. Auxbeam is a great bang for the buck.

If you're worried about the lens, you can buy a large sheet of screen protector and cut it to fit and install on the lights and the issues are as easy as pealing off.

I was impressed at how far the Amber lights shined. On 55s I construction zone. They lit up the barrels pretty far. Still no fog here on west side. Have you had any fog up there?

I have 2 aux beam light bars a with ditch lights. Just put in today amber fog lights from aux beam. I agree they put out light everywhere. Great for trails at night. For road use the put out more light than my headlights on bright. I go to work at 2am here in Chicago. I'll let you know how the fogs work if foggy tomorrow. My light bars and ditch lights are over 2 years old and hasn't fogged over yet......

In some ways (as you saw with the fogs), the actual optics are important for specific use cases like that. Some of the other lights that I like (specifically Diode Dynamics) have put some practical optical engineering and design into their lenses, as you see with their TIR optics, and have better applications for fog (even SAE fogs that are road-legal, with appropriate and proper cut-off and beam shape) for not that much more money.

I have had these same lights for 3+ years..not too bad but for sure you will get water inside the light. I would take the cover off and reseal it with some silicone.

I bought the 4" amber lights because they are a hybrid beam fixture. They are not sold as high intensity spots. I'm now looking for decently priced spots. Any ideas?

🏆🏆🏆👍🇺🇲🙏 SUBSCRIBED I've been using Auxbeam since they first came out. Zero failures. Only light I have seen with a valve to stop let moisture out and not in when the light heats up. Great customer service AFTER the sale, also. I have multiple sets, from 2 inch cubes on six trailers for backup lights, to my boats, ATVs, UTVs, trucks, cars, tractors. Thank you for sharing The light bar vs the other lights... You need to compare the individual LEDs output wattage for each LED and the angle. I have two Auxbeam lightbars on a truck... One is 22 inch... Center LEDs are 1 watt each and 10 degree spread, the outer are 1 watt each and 150 degree spread... Result is great vision into to ditches and woods and straight down the road at night to see deer or animals. The other bar has 3 watt LEDs in the center with 30 degree spread angle and 3 watt 60 degree spread. With both lightbars on, I get 10 degree to 150 degree coverage, from way out in the periphery to straight down the road. No deficiencies in coverage or sight.

Great video, thanks for the honest review! Do you find that LED off-road lights tend to be on the side of being too bright to interpret detail in the foreground? I've heard high power halogen tends to be easier on the eyes, if not quite as bright, they still make it easier to interpret details in the foreground. Put another way, do you find that LED off-road lights "wash-out" the foreground? Sidenote, I saw those butt connectors on an instagram ad, and it was the only time when seeing those obnoxious ads I thought "that's a really good idea!"
@WanderlostOverland
@WanderlostOverland 2 жыл бұрын
The white LED light does a good job in the foreground. The amber tends to do as you say, "wash out".

Who would you recommend for a set of LED fog lights? Putting these on my 1971 Bronco. I do more of the softer side of overland where I end up driving a lot of miles before it ever sees any dirt. So I tend to lean towards driving performance over off road durability. Any company you would recommend?
@WanderlostOverland
@WanderlostOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Not a specific company, but I'd look for fogs that are SAE street legal. They'll have a crisp upper cut-off line.

The foglights actually suck in fog. Because the beam isn't focused and just goes everywhere, the light reflects off the fog and into your eyes.

But yeah a few videos I watched the guy took the lens out of the light bar this was a different guy and he used a piece of film Ashley too I believe and then he’ uses silicone to get everything done correctly and I’ve seen some one else do the same thing a few years back but it keeps all the condensation and keeps your lights from getting damaged and I seen some people some of the companies have coverage they put over the lights when they’re not driving the vehicle and I’ve seen a lot of people do the same thing with their headlights on their vehicles headlights and fall lights👍👍👍

I think it’s the ceramic window tint but you can get the Film in clear yellow you can even put a slightly smoke like 50% just if you’re trying to get your lights with the tint shade Whatever you choose but the film protects your lights from cracking that’s out you keep your headlights fog lights are LEDs from getting damaged I also watched a couple videos these companies actually built their own LEDs and the guy from Tacoma beast went to meet up with Friends they all took Tacoma’s I think phone number correctly we’re traveling for like a month different places going to different trails and spending the night on their tents that they would build on their overland Tacoma‘s

I don't know. I feel like Auxbeam falls in that middle ground where if I save my money I could go with something nicer or if I'm looking to save money there are cheaper options that get the job done just fine and are cheap to replace.

Those 4” lights are not actually fog lights so they are not going to have a fog light pattern. That’s not a fault of the light that your using them as a fog light.

They are not of you go to the website they are clearly listed as “driving lights”. For what it’s worth I have diode dynamics fog lights. If your looking for a true fog beam pattern that is dot approved for on road use I would check them out I think they would suit your needs nicely.
