Overpriced niche big fragrance houses/brands are slowly dying and this is their way to push and fight this battle - it is pathetic, this will not save them. As many others here said, the quality of the OGs are starting to get worse and worse and in so many cases the clones/inspirations are getting so ridicilously good that the comparison is actually laughable (in terms of price and lasting power, quality is usually lil better). I haven't seen, to this day, an exact copy of a bottle. I see a lot of very similar ones, but what's wrong with that? How many companies create very similar products to apple products? do they get in trouble? How many airpod dupes are out there? Or apple watch? Even big companies like xiaomi, lenovo or huawei do it. How many pieces of forniture get very similar to some very popular ones? Take chairs for example, once a design becomes popular, there's immediatly thousands of cheaper alternatives, not quite exact the same but very similar. And this is just 2 examples, this happens with everything. Clothing, electronics, forniture, etc etc etc. Why would it be different with fragrances? Yeah it might be similar, but it's not the same, you can still tell the difference very easily. Knowing the way that patents work, I highly doubt that creating a similar bottle is illegal.

Pretty much something I predicted in 2015, when common sense intimated that established brands would eventually come after clones once they started to outpace their online image or market share. Following the pandemic crunch, it was all but imminent. But copies aren't going away that's for sure. As for designer and niche brands producing original scents....🤭 maybe. 'Parallel' fragrances if anything. Directly competing renditions have been a thing since the 1950s (even longer for clothing) and will continue to be as long as something sells significantly better than something else. Hey maybe that'll become the new term eh? 😄 "Rends" for renditions or renderings.

Generic products for name brands are everywhere in everything that can be imagined from otc pain relievers to sneakers to soft drinks and snacks, etc. More affordable imitations of an original product. I almost always buy the "store brand" when shopping if the quality is similar. Save a little here, a little there. I think they're way out of bounds by "censoring" this content. It's not hard to imagine some degree of corruption or exchange of currency to influence this content being CENSORED. Fascinating really. We're talking about fragrances not a revolution lol.

To me they should come after knockoffs and anyone recommending knockoffs. It's sad that some people can't see that the research and development, exploration, etc needs to be factored in the price of creating a new quality fragrance. Lot's of time and trial and error goes into that. Yet too many frag content creators are using the word "Clone" in their titles because they know it draws in views. They're not just "covering fragrances" they're purposely promoting knockoffs to grow their channels. Some niche houses are already small enough and get knocked off before they can fully get off the ground. If content creators want to promote knockoffs then frag houses deserve to go legal just as ANY other industry would. It's out of hand with hundreds of channels milking the "knockoff promo movement" just to grow their channels, while neglecting the companies that actually put in the work to create a scent.

I have no issues with quality clones or similar to. Take something like Jack of CLubs. $25 buys you a very good YSL Blue Electrique

Greeting... You only talk about what really exists, you don't produce perfumes. But I understand big companies, clones take away a lot of profit. thanks for all your work though, you showed us a lot of alternative scents and saved us a lot of money. Also, clones or copies wouldn't exist if niche and designers were a little less greedy. Best wishes for you and your work...

"Inspired by", or like a recent video of yours, "alternative to". Frankly, these big companies waited too long if they wanted to stop these fragrances. They've now got a firm foothold amongst hobbyists (like myself), collectors, and everyday Joe's that want to smell like that 400$ bottle but can't afford to. I think these cheapies are great for everyone. People like me, who would "never" spend designer or niche kind of money find themselves doing so bc the nuances that sometimes make the og fragrance just that much better. Collectors will keep collecting either way, and now noobs to fragrances have a reachable entry price into loving frags. I started looking for the BEST cologne out there...then best winter, spring.... I now own over 85 fragrances.for the same cost, I could own 5-10 niche or maybe 25-30 designers. Their prices are absurd and middle eastern fragrances have given us viable alternatives.
@thenicesmellinggentleman2 ай бұрын
Nicely said! For the same exact reasons I like middle eastern frags, they give you a chance to experience something without braking the bank! We will find a way around this I’m sure :)

If a clone company can copy your scent and make it 90% the same, I am sorry but you are not niche enough to ask $300+ for it. The cat is out of the bag with clones already, its way too late for these houses.
@marvinleach30592 ай бұрын
Niche copy Designers (Creed Origina Santal vs Mont Blanc Individuel) Designets copy Niche (Mont Blanc Explorer vs Creed Aventus) Niche copy Niche (Haltane vs Oud for Glory) Designers copy Designers (Cuba Gold vs Le Male) No one bats an eye... but when Middle-eastern houses do it, it's a problem. It clearly shows exaclty what the problem is. Other than copying the bottle design and fragrance name, what is the issue?

I guess a hit on the sales is a strong enough incentive to go after the brands and the content creators, and it’s just sad
@Devastater77Ай бұрын
Just say "they smell similar too" they cant take any action against that and what a person's smell is like, it is a personal assessment

homage is a better word to describe the clone of the original work. It suggests a respectful acknowledgment and tribute to the original creator, rather than just a direct copy or imitation.

I'd love to know the actual breakdown of revenue brought in by fragrance reviewers for these "non-clone" company's products compared the losses they've have by clone reviews. I am willing to bet all of the reviewers bring in a TON of business for designer and niche companies with just unbiased and non sponsored reviews alone.

I would use "Inspired by" along with not naming the actual fragrance they are inspiring. You have to get creative. Keep up the great work. You are one of the better content creators along with Neeb and some others.

Just use the term fragrance that remind me of before you say the fragrance Name. They can't get you for saying it reminds you of a different fragrance.

It will take some time to come up and get used to some new terms, but we will find a way! 😁

Over priced fragrance houses are grasping at straws. Ppl now realize that smelling good should not cost a fortune. Fancy fragrance houses have been exposed and need to realize that less ppl are falling for their over priced scams
@onpoint3572 ай бұрын
Why dont the designer and niche brands just lower the prices of their fragrance and stop being so greedy. Fragrances dont cost that much to make. And them using "better quality" ingredient is a waste of time when the chewper clones sometimes give better performance.

I'm not a massive fan of clone houses but how about expensive niche or high end designers which seem be inspired by (some might say copy) previous fragrances? I know that Creed's Original Santal is supposed to be close to Montblanc Individuel and Joop Homme? 🤔 In fact how about many (most?) current designer brands bringing out interchangeable scents? Not only this but retail prices are becoming quite exaggerated !
@thenicesmellinggentleman2 ай бұрын
I have nothing against designer and niche scent, and I’m still going to buy them in the future. I just don’t think that suppressing free speech is the best way to boost your sales..

You can review clones. Just don’t say what it’s cloning. Let review just be about if the scent is good or not.
