This is a topic that has created lots haters on CRAWL TV than anything else I have ever done. Is this tub worth saving? That seems to be the hot topic of discussion here…
Here’s my thought: Anything you think is worth saving is worth saving. To us, this project is worth the time and effort to fix the rust damage, panel by panel. A replacement tub is around 15-16K before shipping, and that’s way out of our budget. However, every part imaginable is available for these things online, so you can essentially rebuild them one part at a time if you have the time and talent to do so.
Share your thoughts in the comments! What would you do if this was your project?

Yup! Definitely a long term project! We’ll just be chipping away at this in the background of our lives for the next year.

Wow, that's a lot of rust but fixable. Flash back to what Stacy David's Crazy Horse project looked like. Can't wait to see the progress.

Oh yes! There’s no shortage of work. Luckily, Steph pushes me to just make a little bit of progress every day because she’s anxious to take over and work on the parts that don’t require fabrication or body work. She wants this thing done so it’ll get done 😂💪🍺

Haha! I have been building up to a project like this after all of the other things I’ve done. I’ll sharpen my skills on this so that I can build what I’ve always wanted - An AMC Eagle on a JK or LJ chassis 🤣

Recommendation like you said order all the aftermarket body stuff you can buy instead of trying to restore it.

I’m going to be making some very small patch panels here and there but for the most part we’ll be getting factory panels to stitch in

Yep! After we ran the VIN we found that it was built in Colorado in the summer of 69 and then it moved southwest. It did end up in Michigan though, and that is very obvious 😂

the crease in the hood is very common, its a weak point. I have owned three and two of them had it, if you up grade to gas struts to hold the hood open the kit has supports to fix this problem. hope this helps. dont forget to brace your tub when you remove it. my 68 was worse then yours and I had a blast fixing it up. dont get caught up in using one supplier, different suppliers have different kits and some are more complete then others

Wish you did not buy a stock rear gas tank. The 23gal is what most use. I have a 20gal rear and 8gal side tank. I would suggest 1"body mounts to get a little more clearance under the body and not too high. 2 1/2 suspension is good for 35" tires if you cut the wheel openings. Hope to see you at Big Bear Bronco Bash June 8th.

Dang it. Yeah, we got the 13 gallon stock tank and an 8 gallon aux tank. Are you on 33s or 35s? We’ll try to make the Bronco Bash! I’ve been driving the new Bronco all week. It’s such a great vehicle. Not as cool as the 1st gens, but cool in its own way.

bought a 72 one owner completely original first of the year from my old hs teacher.... 1 owner never touched, also never washed, never took care of.... everything is there but good lord the rust in mine makes ya'lls look brand new, I'm currently repairing the frame at the rear and have repaired all the body mounts... then I have another 77 tub I am gonna piece together with the parts off mine but it still needs the passenger side door posts repaired and prob rockers... and floors lol

Man oh man. This is my second early bronco that I’ve ever worked on and these things were just built to rust! I have been going really hard on this thing and it’s time to film an update. The driver’s side is almost completely assembled and mocked up. I have a door hung and the gaps are correct. What a freaking process though! I can’t believe I have to do it all again on the passenger side now 🤣

@@CRAWLTV if I can make mine just open and close I'll be happy I'm not gonna lose sleep over door gaps or anything... it won't be very pretty or fully restored I just want a sound, safe, driving, stopping bronco... although I did splurge on a 3.5" lift and some gas shocks from Rancho

Ours has a 2.5 inch lift on it, but we have a new set of Beilstein 5100s to put on it along with some fresh bushings.
