bought a 72 one owner completely original first of the year from my old hs teacher.... 1 owner never touched, also never washed, never took care of.... everything is there but good lord the rust in mine makes ya'lls look brand new, I'm currently repairing the frame at the rear and have repaired all the body mounts... then I have another 77 tub I am gonna piece together with the parts off mine but it still needs the passenger side door posts repaired and prob rockers... and floors lol

Man oh man. This is my second early bronco that I’ve ever worked on and these things were just built to rust! I have been going really hard on this thing and it’s time to film an update. The driver’s side is almost completely assembled and mocked up. I have a door hung and the gaps are correct. What a freaking process though! I can’t believe I have to do it all again on the passenger side now 🤣

@@CRAWLTV if I can make mine just open and close I'll be happy I'm not gonna lose sleep over door gaps or anything... it won't be very pretty or fully restored I just want a sound, safe, driving, stopping bronco... although I did splurge on a 3.5" lift and some gas shocks from Rancho

They were at 80,000 miles but I bought the truck used at 45K. It’s possible they’ve been changed once before. I wish the footage didn’t get trashed because there was a great close up shot of them. They had cracked all the way through, presumably from towing.

@@CRAWLTVdang that’s wild I’ve got about 65k on my 2020 ram and they still look like over 75% life left which blew my mind considering I’m on 35s and I frequently tow a 7000lb camper and sometimes I’ll flat tow my Jeep. Tow/haul mode and trailer brakes really help a lot on these trucks I guess.

I have a Iceco JP42, its the older version of what you have, and it's been in the bed of my JT-R diesel for 3yrs. I rarely strap it down, it tends to stay put fairly well. It's been over the Rubicon more than 6 times, it's my backyard home trail, so I'm kinda spoiled in that regard. It's made multiple trips through Death Valley including terrible sand storms, freezing temps, and triple digits on the regular. I've only had one issue, the cooling fan inside died, it's just a 120mm computer case fan, ordered one off Amazon and it plugged right in. I carry 3 fuse spares for it, never used one. Solid freaking unit for $$.

Why wasn't a JK frame used (Wheelbase 95.4") instead of the JKU frame? Seems like a lot of extra work to cut and shrink the frame.
@CRAWLTV
@CRAWLTV Ай бұрын
The main reason was that there was a JKU frame sitting in the corner of the shop. A JK frame probably would have been easier but we had that frame already sandblasted and prepped, with the body mounts and shock towers cut off of it.

Hopefully the front axle didn’t ruin your weekend and wasn’t an expensive break!

Someone had another axel and after strapped off the trail went back to the Moose Lodge and replaced the axle and back to the trail. No one was at the gate keeper and the three of us went thru. the crease in the hood is very common, its a weak point. I have owned three and two of them had it, if you up grade to gas struts to hold the hood open the kit has supports to fix this problem. hope this helps. dont forget to brace your tub when you remove it. my 68 was worse then yours and I had a blast fixing it up. dont get caught up in using one supplier, different suppliers have different kits and some are more complete then others
