Friends, in today’s Gospel, we hear the marvelous story of the healing of blind Bartimaeus-an icon of tremendous power and a sacred picture of the spiritual life and the process of salvation. We all find ourselves, in our need of Christ, in this image, as our own blindness distorts our vision of spiritual reality and the meaning of life.

I've heard in my head for years now. "What do you want from me? " I've been pagan most my life. I've felt a pull towards God for years. Then I watched The Chosen. I cried like a baby and begged God to help me. For forgiveness. Now I know it was God. While I looked for him everywhere. He was there all the time. Asking, "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?"

@@kevinkelly2162........Kevin, maybe you were deeply heart by a "pedophile protector" and consequently your feelings make sense. Don't let that small percent of evil "priests and bishops" who have learned to use the Church to practice their evil. Jesus suffered much greater evil and indignities from the "Church" leaders of the old covenant (Temple religion of the Old Testament). The High Priest himself had Jesus tortured and crucified but Jesus never turned from the God (the Father) who created the old covenant Temple religions and priesthood. Do not let evil men in the Church turn you from the love and mercy of your creator. Like Jesus, forgive those who harmed your and turned you from the only source of salvation, forgiveness and grace--Jesus Christ.

@@IONov990 In the 12 step programs, we call that “self will run riot.” The first of the 12 steps guarantees the gift of total freedom by turning your will and your life over to the care of God. You will be amazed how quickly He turns your self will into calm and peace. It doesn’t mean you’ll never have another bout of thinking you can do it on your own, but you will have invited the still small voice in to your heart to provide a compass. Trust that voice and you’ll receive miracles in your life you never thought possible. Blessings to you!

Thank you Mary,IO . I think that most if not all us sinners are guilty of pelagianism. I once asked , how can I ask God to forgive me for something I can’t forgive myself for doing. This was an outstanding message and a pathway to calmness and happiness. This lecture coincides and adds to the power of Fr.Dilindo Rutolo’s novena for faith. “Jesus I surrender to you. Take care of everything.” In this gospel Jesus says come ( be near me,) what do you want.? “I want to see” then the most powerful words “your faith has healed you” as in Father Dolino’s novena Jesus said put you faith in me and trust MY will be done. I thoroughly enjoyed this sermon one of your best and helps tie together many things. God bless you Bishop Barron! Amen, amen

As usual ,a homily filled with wisdom .Thank you Bishop, for feeding Jesus hungry lamb and Sheep. How I wished more Priests/Bishops preached with " Solid Food " like the way you delivered this very " Spiritual food" for Jesus spiritually hungry people. Bartimaeus story always reminds me of the woman who was bleeding for 12 years. Her " touch" made Jesus turned around and felt his power went out out from him because of the " Faith-from-the-heart' from the woman.Attached with her Faith was an " action " as her way of executing her faith. Bartimaeus has a very similar spiritual journey with this woman's. Bartimaeus suffered from physical blindness , heard about Jesus Godly works, probably everything Jesus did during his ministry and although he did not see his works due to his blindness , Bartimaeus BELIEVE , which brings us to Jesus own words... " Blessed are those who have not seen and yet, believe" Bartimaeus has " Faith-from-the-heart" and when he activated it, it made Jesus " stood still" because just like the woman who was bleeding for 12 years that made Jesus turned around from his chaotic and noisy environment, so is Bartimaeus voice who " asks" and because he asked from the " heart" and not just from his lips. Jesus heard and granted his request/prayer/petition. What you said here is very true. As a sinner who approach and calls on Jesus name, we ought to do the same.......with Faith from the heart. We all live within the border of " Jericho", with residents who are swimming in sins, Mortal and Venial, and because everyone's a sinner, we can's ask advise from any of our neighbors, for their response would just t be...." Everyone's doing it" and the sinning continues. The most common excuse from Christians is this line....." We're all like filthy/dirty rags". We don't have to be .We can clean that dirty rag, by avoiding " dirty places", by not wiping that rag into something we know can turn that rag undescribably filthy. We can avoid spots/places that made that rag dirty/filthy, but it takes courage, dedication, loyalty and faithfulness to the very Holy one we want to present that rag to be " clean" and it can be done, by avoiding to become filthy, which is very DOABLE, we can keep that rag clean. Catholics, WE can do it, as long as Jesus is your main focus and not the World/society. Try pleasing the " invisible' and not the " visible" beings and we can make the visible one " stood still and turn around" and say...... "Who touched me"? Or "WHO called on my name"? and we can EACH say our name..... "It's me , Lord, Linda". Then, Jesus will ask...." What do you want from me, Linda" and I can say....... " Please make my Faith stronger, so I can be faithful to you till my time here is over ", and the Jesus I KNEW, will. Thank you, Bishop for this GREAT video! Linda Worsham..
