Are you drawing enough? Drawing Milage. Its huge. Its important. How effective is it?
So I'm thinking of making this a little Podcast series where I talk about art topics that I am interested in and dealing with in my own art journey. Let me know what you guys think! And maybe help me come up with a name? lol

I would like to learn about the process of learning anatomy please. I'm so lost as for how to go about that. To the question, no. I've been pretty consistent since I've picked it back up, but I missed yesterday. I draw and then after spending all day on it, I don't wanna do it again for a few days. I have to train myself past that.

What is your excuse for not drawing enough? Mine has been playing FFXV.... This drawing is definitely going to be one of my favorites this year even though its so different from everything I have been doing so far LOL. I did not plan to be spending so much time on this (I've spend hours more than where I got by the end of the video. By the way I am using Procreate 5 Beta and the drawing is sped up about 13x speed.

I always get a burnout? After one (1) drawing, and it lasts for 5-7 days... I should definitely be drawing more but the more I draw within the burnout stage the more I get discouraged..

You should line up some rough sketches (I tend to do about 8) so you can just work on one of them during the burnout phase when you (or at least I) can do other things, but don't really feel like starting new line work or sketches.

Dear Ergojosh, I express my greatest gratitude towards you today. I needed someone to listen to because I have been feeling a little lonely. I sketched a self portrait of me looking down while listening to you and for the first time I have been able to accomplish the look lips have when looking down. Idk how I haven’t been able to do that before but I have today, and I have been able to create a beautiful sketch in 8 minutes (my all time record!!! Usually I take 15 minutes) and all I had to do was listen to you! Thank you for this video, it was helpful in many ways. God bless you! ❤️

Please do! If you need to take a break then maybe do 5 drawings before you watch again and see how you can improve each one afterwards!

ill share my experience where i get a scene/idea in my head that im passionate to draw but lack certain skills to make it "good'. and i find people like you very inspirational that focus on a certain skill like drawing faces and work on it to the point it gets really good (another streamer on twitch named grigoriypeppo who also streams himself doing anatomy studies most known for faces he draws as well but also do certain body type one at a time) just something i try to remind myself to do to get better one skill at a time.

Got a recommendation and now subbed to you. I haven't been drawing a lot or have been sticking to one big drawing at the moment as practise. My schedule has been tight with other studies and have been trying to find ways to keep drawing. Yeah, in the end, not drawing enough actually made me lazy/discouraged but sometimes, it actually gave me more motivation to keep going and pursuit art for my future.

I love the fact that use your own advice with the eyes, that video you showed us with the cat technique, some artist would just show it because they heard that it works but you showed it to us because you use it, thank you :)

I think I'm not drawing enough tho. A time ago I've used to draw every day, every time. Wasn't a professional thing, but I always tried to copy some other styles in a expectation to find my own style. Nowadays I've lost my confident in my draw skills (and even in my appearance). I look to some images of people, anime/game characters or artwok, and think "wow I'd be glad if I could something similar to it" but then I don't even pick my pencil already thinking "I can't". I will try hard to start drawing every day again, study some art and try to find my style, my dream is to have a Huion tablet to make some comics. XD Lol sorry for this long comment, your videos are really inspirational to most of us.

I fully get the "loosing ability" I took an 18 year break after being put down for my art despite having gotten to the point of saying "wait, I did that?" and now I'm having to start over because even a 2hr drawing looks like the dogs dinner

I'm so happy for you for getting that drive to draw back! I know that excitement very well, although for me it's about creating amigurumi, but life would be so much less meaningful without that feeling.

I love to watch you draw. I don’t draw enough. I cant seem to get my thoughts in a drawing. So I don’t draw enough. What I can do is draw something that has already been drawn. Is there anyone else out there that’s like that or is it just me?

I tend to not draw a lot because I’m always constantly comparing myself to other artists and I criticize my art so harshly. I know it’s bad to compare other people’s work to your own but I just find myself doing it. I’ll be on Twitter, instagram and Facebook and although I am in so much admiration when I see beautiful art, I get discourage and think “I will never get to this level of skill.” And so I slowly put the pencil down. Please don’t think that I hate artist and their work, I really don’t, I actually love it, but when I look at mine, I just get sad. I’m working on getting out of that mental state of mind and working hard to draw.

I used to draw a lot 2 years ago when I was also doing art classes , but I stoped it because of my schedule , I enjoy drawing a lot but I can’t find a way of asking my parents to put me in art class again

definitely just ask!!! trust me the reward of art classes and getting back into your passion again will definitely overpower any awkwardness that asking again could bring.

Do you have any recommendations for beginner ? Something like a road map? I’ve recently started to draw and I’ve been on it constantly pretty much every day. I’m doing Drawabox lessons and some stuff from CtrlPaint. Should I focus on fundamentals and exercises or should I draw what I want from time to time? Right now I’m doing a lot of perspective exercises and still life/ still life photo reference drawing.

The most important thing as a beginner is to draw as often and as regular as you can! Perspective form and value are the main topics to hit. So doing simple form studies with your still lifes will help you alot!

me: draws something good also me: can't ever draw something good for 1 month and decide to be lazy and only draw after every 1 month though the drawings suprisingly get better and then im never able to do that 1 style again

Its not a sound effect! Its the natural sound of my screen protector against the pencil!

Ikr lol. Its because I can only draw what Ive practiced well most of the time. I have to just put something on the paper and make adjustments from there, I couldn’t saw the cat in my minds eye 😭
