My chief problem with each level are the exceptions: I know of a major corporation with a mainframe based password system (yes, on the web) which only lets you use 8 characters, including letters and numbers and a very few special characters. “But we make you change it every 3 months 😳”. My problem with password managers is many sites (cough, Red Cross, cough) because they have 3 logins on the same page, or use “entry boxes” that the manager doesn’t recognize make entering a userid and password extremely challenging-if you’re not a human who is actually reading the screen and typing the password. I would love to use authenticators, but I can’t remember which site uses which authenticator: I have Google’s and Microsoft’s and Adobe’s. Adobe is pretty easy, but if you’re in a hurry, try remembering which site uses which (M or G) authenticator-and they’re both named identically 🤬. I’m glad I have a long IT background. I don’t know how regular folks can get around the web. Or, actually, I do know: they don’t have any security to speak of.

@LironSegev
@LironSegev 9 ай бұрын
thanks and I VERY glad to read abot your conern - that is thinking SECURITY!!! nice. To answer your question: if you use a Password Manager that has Zero Knowledge, it means that even they can't access your password EVEN if you lose your own access. You never want to trust a system where an administrator can just "reset" your Master Passwrod (which is how you access all your passwords). Personally, I use NordPass (geni.us/NordPass-SFC) which I have tested in the past by crying to their Customer support department and begging for my Master Password. I was told there is nothing they can do. GOOD!!!!

We have two key fobs for where I work (MoD/DoD contractor). One is to access the network itself, whether onsite or offsite, and the other is for the more sensitive data that requires developed vetting security clearance (UK's version of top secret). It's troublesome at times, but understandable considering the information locked behind these layers pertains directly to the weapon systems a country relies on for national security.

you do pay upfront for the year (and still get the 20% off). You can then just cancel the auto-renewal by literally toggling a switch in the website.
