How sad that you have no one to talk to. But that's what the internet is for, in this age of excessive loneliness. In my humble opinion, you were wrong from the moment you neglected yourself and became so dependent on one person that their sadness was worth more than your own in your eyes. You can't control what others feel; and I say that also in respect to all those people who think you are a mean guy. Not even a mother can control what her son says and doesn't say, who he loves and doesn't love, or even if he lives to adulthood or leaves in childhood, and can you pretend to control what others think of you? And if you cannot, in fact, control it, why do you complain about things that are not in your hands? Worry rather about what is really in your power, about how you invest your time, about those things you are sacrificing for. People will stop talking and thinking about you very quickly when your time has reached its end. The love you give to others should be an extension of the love you have for yourself, or you will only have messy and toxic love in your life. That you tried to help your friend is completely fine and respectable, but that you put her sadness above your own is what brought you this tiredness today. You can, if you feel it's worth it, try to rebuild the friendship, but otherwise it won't do you any good to stay distressed; you did what you should do when someone loves another person enough to consider them a friend, even if in the end it didn't work out as you would have wished. Life is wonderful, with its pains and its joys. All you need to do is to stop worrying as if everything were under your control, and stop living as if you were eternal and had plenty of time to waste. Memento mori, chum.

This is only a certain part in your life, there are so many more positive things in your future to come and experience 🙂 Don't worry too much about others opinions and what they think of you. Do your thing, it will turn out great. You can do this, like you did everything else so far. Take care.
