1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

I'm flattered. Healthcare emergencies in the US are notoriously expensive. I believe Lyn Alden has mentioned some statistics about them mentioning that the cost for healthcare in the US per person is about twice that of other developed countries and the overall quality of healthcare in the US is actually lower as the US has almost double the amount of avoidable deaths than other developed countries and lower life expectancy. In that situation a significantly larger emergency fund might indeed be a good idea. Personally, I'm well ahead of schedule. Apart from a mortgage (with about 1.7% interest until pay off date) I have had no debt since 2005. Another big part is that over here in The Netherlands, contrary to most countries, pensions are fully funded. One of the most important things to remember when building wealth is that it is an exponential function and not a linear one. People often forget that after about 20 years or the first $100,000.- of boring and laborious investing wealth building starts to increase more rapidly.

The US has become disappointing over the years. Lyn Alden's statistics match our firsthand experience. The first hospital here was thankfully 'survived.' The Netherlands sounds wonderful. Excellent mortgage rate, fully funded pensions, and better healthcare. It's so encouraging to hear where you are and what you've accomplished.

@@LaurenTGage Every place has its advantages and disadvantages. Europe also has some particular challenges. Our population is aging more rapidly than in the US, we're dealing with a monetary union without having a fiscal union and (the amount of) EU rules and regulations is often a source of discontent.

How does it all work out? I see the Nomad Capitalist travel from place to place and realize more and more that although some places might be better and/or worse, each place isn't perfect. My hope is that we can all work to improve where we are and be able to move towards a new place without having to escape something that we couldn't change for the better.

If you had asked me to guess those figures that you provided, I would have been way too low. I am actually surprised, but those figures are in USD, one need to remember that USD (by design) looses quite a every year to inflation.

Thank you for you comment @Michaellindquist1023. The more I'm learning about currency vs. money, the more I see and understand what you mean by 'by design.' In my opinion, 'shrinkflation' is also a big issue along with decreased quality. I'm wondering how this situation is going to be able to improve from here. I think many changes are necessary.
