The most ideal place for your first Outpost is the moon (Andraphon) by the planet (Sumati) in the (Narion) System, It has all three of the most important resources(Aluminum,Helium, and Iron) in one place. So you can Triple dip with one outpost if you're lucky.

Bonus Tip: Look for tidal locked planets where it’s always facing what ever star it is orbiting this will always give you solar power with out fluctuations.

The circle around the extractors is to show the radius that other extractors can't be built in. I think it's to prevent people from stacking hundreds of them into each vein.

If you want to go into the builder mode from anywhere in your base just open the scanner and press the outpost button. Really helpful for decorating the inside of habs.

Would love an advanced guide. There’s gotta be a way with that transporter to make it so you don’t have to store resources on your ship. I’m perpetually encumbered if I don’t want to sell the resources.

There is, I've got a "warehouse" base set up. There's something you can build that, I forget what it's called, that lets you transfer items from your ship to it. Then I have a bunch of storage containers linked to that. So I offload my resources from my ship to the transporter thing, then that automatically fills into the containers I linked to it.

there’s a transport pad you can build in the same tab as landing pad, you have to build one in each base for each resource so you’ll need like 3 in your main base

Would it be a smart choice to make ships designated for outpost building? Like a ship that would have everything you would need for an outpost set up. So like one for meterials and another for gasses. You know, instead of just brining along companions.

Just get a large cargo hold on any ship and dump the essentials in when you go to build out.

You don’t need much to set up an outpost for mining certain materials. Dump what you will need into your transfer station and pick it up from your ships cargo terminal. Or you can just walk everything over there encumbered haha. I have set up several outposts with the starting ship with just 2 extra cargo additions

I setup all the stations in the dream home and put storage not right next to them but like a couple feet away is there a way to have it pull the items from the chest? Also is there a bigger chest that holds more than 165 mass for homes?

With regards to the radius circle around the extractors, I found that this determines the speed of the production (not the amount) of resource produced. With some experimentation I found that at least 50% of the circle must be within the resource area to max the production rate. If you place it with less than 50% the rate of production is slightly reduced although it is negligible as containers will fill with just a few minutes difference , not hours. Also think Minecraft with regards to resources. Multiple "Biomes" meeting at a single point. I found a zone where Iron, Aluminum and Zinc all met. I placed my outpost right in the center where I can mine all 3 easily. There is a full periodic table of elements that you will want to mine with a limited number of outposts so the greater the number of resources converging at a single point will give the greatest variety you can mine in a single outpost. From the planetary scan it is easy to see where multiple resources meet at a single point.

Also, Someone mentioned "Why Helium" instead of something like Hydrogen to connect the outposts? I think this gives insight to the tech that Bethesda has chosen to represent in game. Helium is used to create Helium 3. This is a primary Fuel in fusion reactors. Fusion engines are obviously the engines most of the ships use so fusion "Drones" most likely move between the outposts. (I only have 1 outpost currently so I am just guessing.)

Was looking for a comment like this. I've only seen people going back to the outpost "computer" to get back to build mode. Hitting the outpost button in scanner mode will put you back in build mode, no need to make you're way back the the outpost building.

I'm solid mid game but my end game plan involves a system with at least 60% of all the rez I need with connected farms and having a storage outpost. Ideally getting 50 mill storage with an automated resource system for *more then half* of the resources I'll ever need

Sure was real nice of Bethesda to NOT mention the 'item limit' of treasure chest type containers in the build menu. How many of us have been unpleasantly surprised the first time we dumped stuff into a container we made while thinking it's the same as a Fallout workshop or any container in Skyrim? And that's not the only thing that's happened. I've seen people pick up the game's equivalent of duct tape. . .they'll soon find out. . . Earlier today in another video a person asked if there was item scrapping like in Fallout 4/76.

I saw something else where it's a good idea to level up scanning so you can find a good spot that has multiple rare resources to build your base. Since you're limited on how many bases you can make I wonder if you happen to make a base before you level up scanning you can dismantle the base and make a new one somewhere else once you do level up scanning.

Yes. You can dismantle outposts by scrapping the main node. I'm unsure whether you are reimbursed, but resource acquisition seems sufficiently easy to disregard the problem.

Don't need to level up scanning it's a waisted point early on. Don't use the scanner to look for available resources. Use the outpost, before you put the outpost down it shows what's available, so you can move it around until you find a spot with multiple resources

Resource are used for research, weapon mods, armor mods, pharmaceuticals, etc.

@Arekkz 2 questions if you do not mind. 1: do outposts that harvest resource keep harvesting when you are not on that planet or star system? 2: When you link 3 outposts together (1 iron, 1 lead and 1 aluminium) on 3 different planets, can you empty out the storage on those planets from another outpost? So that you don;t have to keep flying and checking out 3 different planets?

You may need a single rank of Botany from the Science tree? At least, that rank mentions being able to place plants in your outposts.

@@XoRandomGuyoX i already figured it out... you need rank 1 of botany AND you need to 100% one of the plants on the planet your on to grow it there... at least as far as ive seen... perhaps the advanced outpost options that let you build outposts on uninhabitable planets might allow you to plant plants from other planets? but im not sure as i dont have that skill yet.

Not a harvesting question sorry, but can anyone tell me if the ships reactor needs a type of fuel to work? And if so, does it run out and where can i get some more. Im worried ill get stuck somewhere with no way to take off.

I’ve never ran out of fuel and got stuck. I think the fuel is purely for how far you can grav jump in a single travel, doesn’t seem like it ever runs out afterward!

Anyone experienced an extractor disappearing? I had an argon extractor and a solar power source vanish on me when I got back to the outpost... however in build mode I can see the wire connection from the power to extractor is still there floating

I was playing on a dogshit omen laptop that was like "decent" maybe 4 years ago lmao the first 7 hours of my starfield experience was a nightmare constant crashes ui bugs black screens all kinds of shit but when I loaded into my outpost on my new laptop which runs starfield perfectly on high graphics preset the things that had vanished were back which I had a suspicion they never left bc when I first saw the extractor was gone I went to put another down and it told me I couldn't as the other one was still there albeit invisible to me... so mine was totally a graphics related bug

Just place power nodes around it, I started my outpost with 3 extractors triangulated around the landing pad, the solar power units I was using for the extractors actually powered my landing pad without having to connect it with wire or anything

By the way, you don't need to commit a crime to get the Crimson Fleet mission. Just progress through the Vanguard quest line, and the UC SysDef will offer you the mission.

And after that, you need to MANUALLY sell all the stuff you produce by flying back and forth to little stores that have a 5-11 grand money limit. It's just killing me. Why the hell they didn't make some corp shop for large selling automatically like links between outposts. So, the needed game mechanic is already in the game they just need to slightly improve it.

Start with console commands if on pc
