Its not only that, tarkov always had problems but since BSG had a monopoly on this type of game without real competition, they can do what ever they wanted. BSG lost the plot honestly, the unheard edition was just another nail in the coffin.

I think there is a player base for abi regardless of it being a “clone” It seems like a more casual tarkov. There are plenty of tarkov players that are excited because it’ll feel like home but still not the exact same. Someone called it tarkov for dads and it feels that way.

Yeah. As much as I'd like to stick to my "morals" and not support ABI, I'm going to be strictly playing it over tarkov. Everything I hear about it's future sounds better and it's more fun than tarkov IMO. Plus with BSG's past I could care less. I play fun game. Simple as

1:55:20 lack of friendly fire is 100% due to griefers. When you have random teammates, one of them sees you loot something rare you're gonna get domed and looted if friendly fire is on. Even now you can still get naded by teammates if they want what you've looted

I’m a landscaper and hearing the parts about the lawn was just so funny. You can def do it yourself, but a pro to do the aeration and smoothing of sand. So much effort to do it yourself

@@Cave____ the way they regulate how clinicians interact with clients is extremely greedy, and it results in therapists not being able to provide adequate care. I don’t remember which one specifically but one of the virtual therapy apps requires therapists to base their responses to clients based on how many words the client types. If a client says ‘I want to kill myself’ instead of elaborating the therapist can’t say more than they did so they’ll have to say something like ‘can you tell me more?’ Which on its face isn’t a bad thing but with as many different situations that can come up in therapy the apps tend to lead to worse outcomes for patients

This Tarkov and Arena Breakout thing could be broken down like a relationship, treat ur partner like shit and ignore their needs and wants constantly, well when they leave ur ass, dont get mad that who they left u for has all the same qualities u had down to a T, and treat u better. This is a game and alot different than an actual relationship, but its and easier explanation of the players view. What Id be interested in is, how would the tarkov player base react to Arena Breakout if Tarkov didnt do the Unhinged Edition?

The thing about that analogy is that if you think the second person is "just like the first but better", you're gonna be sorely mistaken when they turn out to be actually completely different because you were analyzing the most surface-level similarities. And so now you're treating one person like they're another person, ignoring the weirdness behind them copying your "former partner" just to be with you while they also don't give you anything interestingly unique either

Grey water man, can you chuck a filter on your dish sink or laundry sink pipe? We hijacked our toilets and showers and pump the sewerage into a small system that waters the yard, haven't paid for water to water the yard in years. Just dish sink water would be fine as long as you're only using normal soaps, the minerals and grot from food will fertilise the lawn too. From an Australian in QLD whose lawn dies the moment the sun rises lol.

There is a difference between "clone" and "copy". A clone mimics the genre, a copy steals interlectual property. This is clearly a copy, down to the codebase, forget about mechanics and items.

The audio in ABI is so much better. My ears aren’t bleeding after a raid. I can hear gunshots over my footsteps. My footstep’s aren’t louder than anything else in the game. I can actually hear directional audio and tell what bush somebody is in. The Audio is not weird at all. It’s so much better. Bsg needs to learn

I understand your point about still buying things from companies that do bad things. It's basically impossible to not buy *something* from one of these companies because their products are so pervasive in everyday life. However, it's still worth talking about them, and looking at alternatives when they are available. Maybe you could do without that particular product. Maybe there's a brand that has better ethics... If we just say "fuck it" because we can't avoid it most of the time, then you've just given them license to do worse. Companies don't have a moral compass, they just want money. It's up to regulators and consumers to reign them in and punish them. Edit: This applies to the bit about IP law.

I think the biggest overall difference between them is, tarkov is more of an RPG while ABI is more of a true extraction shooter. The ability to go in and buy all the good stuff of you have the money is so refreshing to the casual player of this genre.

i'll always be a Tarkovian at heart but its clear to see they have an actual comp game out now. will be interesting to see if Arena can push it past what Tarkov has done or will it be limited to Tarkovs own creativity. only time will tell if Arena can come up with their own content with out swiping some of it from Tarkov

Fair Use is a legal argument, not guaranteed protection.

Also Fair Use does not protect against plagiarism (such as in the case of The Internet HIstorian, for example). Point being: there's a lot of nuance to copyright law in the US and EU, and even the copyright laws differ between those two. China has NO copyright law or IP protection, and copy+pasting code is common practice in China. Most likely: they copied code.

The concern for hardcore plagiarism isn't necessarily an ethical one from the side of the consumer, but a practical one. Jesse kinda intuits that without being able to articulate it, but the premise is simple: Can the consumer trust that the "dirty" sellers aren't and won't screw them over too in the near future? If they're willing to steal entire assests, what else would they be willing to do? Can we trust them to handle cheaters, or to not have updates break the game in big ways? As a disclaimer, I have no idea how far any alleged plagiarism goes. But the point still stands.

For starters. North Pole is a mess on Google earth. Old map from 1600 has North Pole with BlackRock written in Latin at the center, as we all know Black rock is a company with 10 trillion in assets…. The United States is 1.8 trillion in debt… I’m not suicidal

I posted on another vid, but, Arena Breakout is doing Tarkov better honestly. Did they need to take so much "inspiration"? Probably not, but I bet it helps provide a similar feeling to those who are looking for a direct replacement. I literally uninstalled tarkov for the first time in 3 years after playing it. The fact we don't have to spend time looking up KZfaq guides, or pulling up maps and wikis on second monitors is a no brainer. Will it be ruined by pay to win? Who knows. I'm sure there will be other games to play by then though.

Tencent make international games, obviously the AI speaks english cause youre playing the US Beta, asian Version of the game would speak their respective Language, Not like Tarkov that uses the Russian language cause its a Reference to the vibes from STALKER

I don't think people are always using clone in a negative connotation. I would call watchdogs a 'gta clone' because it shares a similar concept and structure to GTA. When we talk about something it's important we are on the same page with definitions, and this goes into polsci especially, because an anarchist's definition of authority is completely different from another anarchist's definition. When people say clone (although sometimes it's negative) I see it as referring to a genre or structure similar to but not equal to a game that has pioneered the genre.

Heard of better help from you guys in August. I lost my job then. I tried to sign up. At the time, they had a list of content creators a mile long, for discounts. Pogcast wasn't on the list at that time. At first, they wanted full price. But after several clicks and saying I was unemployed. The pruce was about half... Maybe less. With no documents, just me saying I had no job. Anyway, I did not sign up. It seemed like I would get the cheapest help possible. I think getting bad help can take me several steps back. I have autism and adhd. I did find work. But months went on where betterhelp solicited me. Even a therapist/(ai?) Did a role play of signing up themselves, to motivate me. No one asked if I was ok or how I felt. Just "sign up!"

i still believe the cycle frontier should have bumped their Time to kill by X4 and the game would have been so much better, and not stopped the wipe obviously

As a gamer should I care about the ethical development of a game? I played 20 hours of ABI and its gonna do great things for the genre. People are not waiting around for BSG to get it together anymore. I will play the better game and the community will too.

it is the same as LoL and Dota. LoL was the same game with some differences, and better modernized UI. Then Dota 2 came which was the Dota 1 with LoL's UI/QoL improvements. Now you have 2 games that you can play according to your preference. If nothing else, Tarkov devs can see and improve stuff and eventually you will get 2 good games.

If Arena Breakout did copy assets, then (A) they wont be allowed on steam, and (B) they show themselves to be untrustworthy and I and I'm sure many others will not spend money on the game. However, I'd like to see BSG's evidence first as they could just be bitter atm, or maybe these are assets they purchased
