i feel like people saying they lack power is kinda unfair, it really just comes down to their voice types and their stylistic choices. Mariah's voice itself, though light, is still meaty and thick (Music Box era says hi), so ofc she's gonna much sound thicker and louder than Ari and Cynthia. The way they approach certain notes is alo vastly different, so comparing is pointless, just enjoy!

I kinda see where they’re getting at. I did think they did a great job. Ari’s rly improved over the last 5-10 yrs. It doesn’t rly depend as much on voice types. The lightest, highest sopranos can have darkness & projection in their voices if trained the Rt way. It does have more to do w/either lack of technique or stylistic choices like you said, & I’d definitely say the latter. I seriously doubt Mariahs voice was ever louder than Cynthia. She’s a well classically trained soprano & has sung in multiple theaters un-amplified

Yeah Mariah has balance between her bass and treble her instrument is amazing, altough the nodules is the villain of her talent

@@geminikid1617 i agree with the part about Cynthia, i feel like it’s just the style. Mariah loves to play with dynamics, she always does this really soft falsetto note right before an explosive belt, just like the ‘miracle’ note in the 2nd chorus. Cynthia doesn’t really do that

They‘re both giving Mariah, I wish one of them would have been leaning more towards Whitney-esque vocals for this performance. This way it’s pretty, but it lacks the power of the og duet.

I think it’s the quality of the video, but the only thing that was audible and impressed me was Ari’s head voice. That was beautiful.

They're both giving Mariah because they're both light-lyric sopranos. Really light and agile voices but Cynthia is opting for a chestier sound while Ariana is headier. They could've both taken Mariah's parts easily.

The color gets darker when the note repeats, to visually indicate that it’s actually two notes!

Cynthia's voice is tiny. It is not a large dramatic instrument like Whitney's titanic size voice. It is about the same size as Ariana's, if not smaller. Wrong choice of singer to sing Whitney's part if you ask me.

It’s because Cynthia is actually a classically trained soprano but her head voice is actually a lot weaker. She struggles past D6

I mean, they sound good, but when you grew up listening to the original, you can't help but think this sounds cute. Ari did a great job with Mariah's part, but Cynthia really lacked that power and gospel in Whitney's voice. Cynthia's voice is way too light when you compare it to the titanic voice of Whitney.

to be fair, anyone’s voice will be sounding relatively weaker compared to whitney so, not sure what was the point of the last statement of yours?
