Did they mention anything about suspension travel? I see a polaris RZR as a competitor, and they have 14 inches of suspension travel. It seems like if this hit a jump you would destroy the suspension.

*I think what's cool about this is that it's tough enough to go on the trails, and possibly with some different tires, you can go have some fun on the road with it too!* I think with some 35" tires (and a lower gearing to go with it), this thing could be really competitive on some pretty extreme trails. *ANY OTHER ENTHUSIASTS SEE A CHAD MOLITOR ROCK CRAWLING RIG IN THE MAKING?*

Serious question, what good is 71 degrees of approach angle if the front wheels aren't driven? you would just break control arms
@fraserwright9482
@fraserwright9482 9 жыл бұрын
I can't see this being anything other than a toy car for someone on a farm in Cheshire. It isn't competitive in real off road races as it has 300mm of clearance not travel, the suspension setup is something from 1982 . If you compare this to its competition such as a Bowler Wildcat or any other Dakar competitor this will be eating dust.

This actually might have more wheel travel than a Dakar Mini. In Dakar 4x4s are limited by regulations to 25cm (10") of wheel travel. Even WRCs in gravel mode have surpassed that number by a couple of inches.

Ive been around and worked on trophy trucks, pre-runners, class one buggies as well as sand rails. and i can say from experience that the engineering put into this vehicle is NOT setup to be competitive at all. This thing won't last a minute in the desert with the suspension geometry and travel it has. IT IS JUST A TOY!!

With so many people crying about it not having enough power, it's obvious that not many of you have ever actually driven off road at speed. You don't need much power, and torque is only good on road. Off road torque just makes you spin faster.

That 2.4 is more than adequate obviously, but in offroad driving, the torque is the key. Honda's inline-4 engines make their power really high up the revrange and not much is happening below 4-5 grand, the top end power is not what you really want in an offroad vehicle. Hence the bigger V6 or even a diesel, you don't have to rev them up to make power. The bigger engine wouldn't even have to be more powerful, at 200bhp it would be plenty, but the torque would make the Nomad insanely quick (not that it's slow now lol).

Looks pretty exposed just behind front wheels near driver/passenger legs? Just imagining on a turn, at speed that's gonna throw a hell of a lot of shit at the driver and passengers face - particularly on a gravel track or area of loose stone. Don't get me wrong, getting rough and muddy is all part of the fun, but surely could do with better cover than that...?! Still a lovely toy though.

The fact that it is rear engine is what im questioning, I doubt a Porsche 911 off roader would be the easiest to drive..
@ShadowFalcon
@ShadowFalcon 9 жыл бұрын
***** Also, it's more mid-engine than rear-engine. Not that a mid engine off-roader isn't ferocious (just look at the Stratos, the 037, the Delta S4, the 205 t16, the Metro 6R4, and the RS200). Also the Baja Bugs (being based on the VW Typ 1 Käfer) are also RR platforms (Rear-engine RWD), and so are the VW Bug Beach Buggys (which were the inspiration for the Nomad).
