Hester! Fantastic job! You make everything look so easy. That carb came out so bright and shiny... Great stuff...

Thanks for the video. I have a 2015 Ariens compact 24 that I bought brand new from Home Depot in 2015 and when I had it delivered to my home, I started it and noticed it had the surge problem right from the factory. I had to get Ariens involved where they created a service ticket to have their local repair center pick up the machine and they replaced the entire carburetor with a brand new one under warranty. It was a pain in the ass and looking back I would’ve just spent the $50 for the new carburetor myself and swapped it out and rebuilt or cleaned the original one and kept it for back up or parts. These engines are built in China and they sit for a while with gas in them and the gas went bad. Damned ethanol.

I have an Ariens Deluxe 24 - 921024, 2014 model with the AX-254 engine. I read on another KZfaq channel, that its OK to leave the choke on by a notch or two if it helps to maintain the idle. 1) Have you ever heard of doing that? I did get some serious backfiring the first time out... and the second time out, it settled down a bit in the backfiring department, but I still needed to keep the choke on to maintain the idle. I am guilty as charged for not running the engine in the Spring until the gas empties out of the float bowl. Two weeks ago, I put some SEAFOAM in it, to see it that cleans things out a bit. My gasoline probably has ethanol in it, which I know is no good for these engines... but now I need to wait for more snow to see how it runs under load. 2) Loosening off that hose with the spring clip on it, will that drain the entire contents of the tank? I noticed yours in the video did not drain much fuel. Thanks for your help, your video... and hopefully you answer my questions.

I like the shop rag on the flexible tool trick for the tank! What are you using for a fluid in the ultrasonic cleaner? Heated or non-heated?
