Check to make sure you have at least a 1/2 tank of fresh gas. Check to make sure when the fuel valve is in the on position it actually is flowing out of the fuel line. You will need to disconnect it from the carburetor to check it. If it is flowing good, you may need to leave the choke on 1/2 for a bit to let the carburetor warm up. If you cant keep it running and you know you have good flow to the carburetor then unfortunately your carburetor you just installed has issues.

I cannot figure out your electric issues and fuel leaking issues with seeing the machine.

It should be straight forward to get the cover off. The next time I get a snow thrower in with the same engine as yours. I will make a video on how to install a new one. If you can get the carburetor off you should be able to get the fuel shut off valve off. I would suggest to order one online and have it ready to install before you proceed with that job. No sealant on any gaskets. If you cannot re-use them then you will need to replace. Be careful taking them off.

You will need to take the model number that is stamped on the side of the block near the base on the right side if your standing behind the machine. Take that model number and look up the carburetor on a parts breakdown to see if you can get the gasket. I can say, the carburetors aftermarket are cheap enough to just replace it when necessary.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines I agree I was able to get aftermarket carb on Amazon for 20.00. I did also buy a ten pack of stens gaskets. Size looks correct as it fits the aftermarket carb. Will change gasket once snow melts here. Thanks for replying

The hunting and surging is a blockage in the carburetor. Make sure there is good flow of fuel coming from the fuel line (fuel tank) to the carburetor. If that is good your carburetor is running lean and there are no adjustments on these carburetors. I will assume you installed a new carburetor? Depending on the quality of your carburetor you get what you pay for. I would suggest running the engine full throttle with the auger blades turning for ten minutes to really get the engine warm. The surging may get better. If after ten minutes it is still not good. You can either cheat by leaving the choke on a few click, send it back for a new one, rebuild the carburetor or replace it. I have good luck using an ultrasonic carburetor cleaner, not sure if you can find one to use.

Must likely it’s just stuck. Try tapping on it with a hammer.

I have seen the fuel shut off valves leak. You will need to take the knob and cover off to visually see the leak to confirm it.

The new carburetor has internal issues. Sounds like the needle valve comb with the float did not do it’s job. Take it apart and make sure the needle valve is seating properly, and float are ok. How cheap was the replacement you installed? You may have also had crap from the fuel line and tank give you that issue. Make sure your fuel line is not old and cracked. And make sure the gas tank is clean and the fuel is fresh.
