AuxBeam 18W Cree LED Flood Lights
UPDATE: I ran this blower and the lights all winter long, commercially, for over 28 running hours and didn't have a single issue. So long as everything that needs to be sealed off is sealed off (all the wiring along the way), you won't have a problem. I did put some amber lens film over the lights, as it's much better during heavy snow. Highly recommend.
Lights: a.co/69ZqaK4
Rectifier: a.co/3C7egDg
Solder Connectors: a.co/f4RrO6X
Wire Conduit: a.co/hF0ykNE
Carrier Clips: a.co/9C074eY
Fuse and Holder: a.co/169m7jQ
Other connectors, hardware, shrink wrap, electrical tape, and power wire I bought at the hardware store. The hole in the rectifier is a #10 (3/16"), so I used #10-24 threaded bolts and #10-24 locking nuts to attach the rectifier and for the ground.
I'd recommend going up a size for the corrugated wire tube and clips as the diameter I used couldn't quite enclose the solder connectors I used. Wrapped those areas well with electrical tape. Could stagger the junctions to avoid this issue, or just go up a size!
I did not utilize a switch or capacitors in this setup. There is flicker at low idle, but at full throttle, they are fully bright and there's no flicker. The only remediation to the electrical signal is the bridge rectifier, which essentially converts the AC coming from the stater to DC for the LEDs.
Shoutout to the folks over at snowblowerforum.com. I used MnP40c's post in the link below and his video as a template. Great thread for a more step-by-step installation and information guide. The first page of the thread has more information about the rectifier and capacitors to deal with flickering!
