Add a headlight to Most Snowblowers!

This is a quick way to add lights to a snowblower. It's not the best setup since you are running DC lights with AC current, but if you add a simple bridge rectifier to convert to DC it will give you what you need. Adding a capacitor is probably overkill unless your lights have very specific voltage requirements. ** Do this at your own risk.**
From what I've read since LED's are basically diodes, the AC current will hurt them over time with the reverse breakdown of the LED in an AC circuit.

Add a capacitor so it won’t flicker and is a constant light value. Nice work though. 🇨🇦👍🏼

Power from a stator is ac. Led like dc. It has been a year. I'm guessing your lights have burnt out.

Mine has that hook up to my light already. Can I just add led with or with out a rectorfiyer

Leave the lights aimable left2right so you can illuminate both where the snow is and where you are throwing it.

IMHO You have them mounted too high. You are obstructing your vision to the intake.

give it time he will burn out his LED lights with the ac power is to much for the LED lights you do need a rectifier to convert the AC power to DC power

How much time? I've been running my led setup for two winters now. Third coming up. Still work fine and if it does burn out I can get another one on Ebay for $10.

It's not a matter of "clean current" the voltage your snowblower generates is AC. That is why your lights flicker. A rectifier will convert the voltage to DC. They are like $5 on Amazon.

I learned the hard way. LED light worked for a while, but ultimately I smoked The LED light by not using a rectifier.

Running LEDs off AC power is never going to hurt them. They cannot light when the current reverses 60 times per second, so there is a "refresh rate" effect when looking at them, but otherwise and assuming the output is never higher than 12v, they will not get damaged. Like someone else said though, grab a rectifier, wire it in and the annoying strobe like effect is solved.
