When I was in basic training for the US Navy, I met a Nigerian and a Cameroonian. Both were in my division. They didn't seem to get along. Whatever interactions they had always ended in an argument. But what I find most interesting is that whenever they got into an argument they both did that fish mouth and bug eyed thing. Funny stuff.

I work with some Africans and I try to be very cordial and ask them questions...trying to become more worldly and I do realize that Africa is extremly built up and much of the amenities they have here they also have there. I once heard from a co-worker why African women don't date African American men and the reasons were outlandish and stereotypical to say the least. Trying to do my own small part to break the stereotype......

I am African and I've been living in the US for fourteen years. Yes, Africans find it hard to connect with African Americans and possibly due to a cultural dissociation that has been there for hundreds of years. However, this goes both ways, African Americans do look down on Africans as well.

I used to have two friends from high school to college . One was from heart of africa in nigeria and the other was from an uprooted black neighborhood of atlanta, GA. Those two used to make fun of each other and when our friend of Nigeria gets pissed, I could not stop laughing at his accent as it got louder and louder, the funnier it got! im still friends with them.
