Hi Friends, I wanted to share my thoughts on the abortion ban coming out of Arizona. From attacks on Planned Parenthood and other resources for women's health, there hasn't actually been an instance quite like this. I was actually being educated by a friend of mine that when Roe V Wade became the law of the land it superseded a lot of this old laws but many of them were never actually repealed. Once Roe went away most of these laws, still on the books, were free to go back into effect.
We know this fight is not about women's health because the states with the harshest punishments and toughest abortion laws also have the weakest maternal support according to data. Not to mention the same politicians that want to restrict access also want to strip government aid from people who may need it due to having another mouth to feed.
States like Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Ohio, South Dakota, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Mississippi, all have some of the highest child poverty rates with no sign of improving. Protests have popped up around the country in reaction to this State Supreme Court decision with more to be expected.
I also talk about hotel disasters and the ways to navigate interracial friendship!
Thanks for watching. If you enjoy please share with someone who could use a laugh and most of all thanks for being my friends.
If you love my stories I have a podcast that comes out every week: bit.ly/3NQmpio

I’ve lived in Arizona all my life and now I’m going to abandon the bloody state. Taking away women’s bodily autonomy, putting them at risk for dying. Stupidity, it is regressing so much, it’s a step away from the handmaidens tale.
@Yurrsawwwft
@Yurrsawwwft 4 ай бұрын
Ahh the bodily autonomy argument, how about this, let’s make abortion procedures illegal, not make it illegal for the woman to get one. There now you maintain bodily autonomy, while the actual abortion procedure itself becomes illegal. Everyone wins. And if you think that’s not right, do you support drug laws that take away an addicts bodily autonomy? 🤔

If they make the practice/procedure of abortion illegal, that doesn’t take away your bodily autonomy, it simply bans a medical practice, then you can be happy because no one’s telling you what to do (they just can’t help with aborting babies) and the innocent get a chance at life. Everyone wins

It's because that's an entirely different argument. You can have multiple beliefs at the same time. You can believe that abortion is wrong and also that children are treated badly in the foster system. This is like saying "I haven't seen a single person arguing for transgender treatment discuss the discrimination against transgenders in sports 😡" like it's related but it's not the same conversation. Pro-lifers (as they're officially called. You don't hear pro-lifers calling you "anti-life") care about children just as much as you do. If you show them a video of kids in foster care being abused, they'll have the same level of disgust as you do. They just don't like killing them in the womb. Y'know, the place where abortion takes place. That's why most of their arguments are just about what happens in the womb.

As a photographer, who loves shooting b&w film, it's actually not that hard. Meter properly, use your flash right (bounce flash, covers/diffusers, reflectors), and know your subject. Also, there are darkroom tricks (burning and dodging) and enlarger filters that can be used. Also, dark skin generally, imo, looks fantastic on b&w!

The problem is making laws based on what they "feel is right." Laws exist to protect people and to keep things fair so each individual can live life the way they want, as long is doesn't hurt anybody else. I feel like if your making laws based purely on on "I think x" and have no actual reason or logic behind it, that is a problem. It's fine if you are religious and you think abortions are wrong. If the time comes where you need to make a choice, nobody is taking that from you. You can choose to not have an abortion, not use brith control, etc. But please don't try and make that choice for others. Life is hard and we are all just doing our best. It's hard enough to worry about stuff that involves yourself, without others who don't need to be involved telling you how to go about things.
@Just1Nora
@Just1Nora 2 ай бұрын
Thank you. I hate when people use religion as a shield for controlling women. The Bible doesn't say jack about abortion! Plus, pro-abortion people almost never support programs to help mothers and children AFTER birth. They are pro-birth, but once that new human is there, you're on your own. That is so wild to me! Laws aren't supposed to be made on a powerful old white man's superiority complex. Bans don't stop abortions, they stop SAFE abortions. Don't like abortions? Don't have one! But also don't stop someone else from choosing to if they feel it's necessary. I have chronic health problems and take a number of medications, ones I cannot safely stop, that will harm a fetus or cause serious birth defects. Would those lawmakers want to pay for care and medical bills for a disabled child? No. Those same lawmakers push to reduce and eliminate programs to help struggling women and children, and poor people in general. It's meant to punish women and control them. It's not about protecting the fetuses at all. That's why really makes me upset.

"This is half off now" I paused after that to allow the laughter to reverberate throughout my body for a solid minute. I imagined Josh really said that. It's something I'd say shamelessly! 😂 And about that plunger story, I can't decide whether he made up that story for us or that's the filthiest fake break-in story he could have told the hotel staff! The staff was like "Dude, WTF you coulda simply asked for a plunger. Everyone fuckz shit up" 🤣

People who are anti-choice don't "think that thought all the way through"...they just believe every fetus MUST be born, and don't consider all of the unintended consequences/ramifications that will accompany said fetuses in the future. I mean, critical thinking, wisdom, and forethought should play a key role in the decision to make a whole-azz person & release them into society, right?!

It’s grasping at straws. They’re just finding whatever footing they can to justify banning abortion completely. It’s like, what’s next, are we going to endorse slavery because of the old Jim Crow laws? We as Americans should not be held hostage by hateful ego zealots from two centuries ago; this is a Democracy, give the people the right to vote.

There's a trend right now in Nigeria. People post old pictures of when they were broke and black 🤦🏾‍♀️ and when they got rich they became lighter. What I noticed is some people didn't look better because of money, the camera quality was different. Old phones took bad pictures and for us Africans, we weren't even considered because light skinned and dark skinned blacks all looked ⬛ black, like much darker than they were because lighting was shit

When I was a kid in the 80’s, before digital cameras and the ability to see the photo right away and retake or make adjustments, my family went camping with a black couple from church we were friends with. Almost ALL of pictures of them were of solid black faces with white teeth.😂 looked like old school racist art. My dad had a good camera, but he adjusted the F stop and aperture for the landscape and sun, and I guess he either didn’t think about or know how to adjust for their skin tone. The only time they were leveled out and fully visible were when we were in the shade of tree canopies. That was a fun trip, though. Hopefully they had good photos. Maybe we look like ghosts in their pics. 😂

It differentiates him from other similar aged newer comics, because all audiences can relate vs just us Millennials or Gen Z’ers. I really want to see him around for decades.
