You've got some banding happening in the video (the black bar that's moving up the frame). If you aren't aware, it comes from your shutter speed being fast enough that the sensor starts catch up to the speed at which the lights are cycling on and off. You can usually fix that by slowing down your shutter speed until it disappears.

Damn you chris. I love the concept of side control 1 and 2 etc. It's totally valid....I have often wondered about that but not organized the way you have presented it. So thank you. And damn you as well...for giving me more work. Hahahahah. Great lecture. Inside vs outside. R vs L. ...all you did was turn my game upside down...in a good way.

I've been watching a lot of Chris videos the last few days. The core-concept breakdown is really helpful. Helps reduce the overwhelming complexity of BJJ a lot. The dominant hand issue is actually pretty subtle IMO. As a musician, I have a highly trained off-side (I'm right handed, so left is my off-side), and in fact on some tasks the left side is far and above the right. In my experience, the non-dom side is certainly trainable to be equal to the right, but the key question is do you want to spend the time to do it? Another thing is context. If we bring in an MMA context, the standard wrestling stance is backwards from the standard striking stance (dom leg forward vs dom leg back). There's a lot to explore, and IME it's not strictly dominant vs non dominant, there's a lot about training history that factors in as well.

Chris you are correct that we usually react to the other person after they set their grips and it true we fight from our domestic side. It’s thinking outside of the “ box.” I like the idea of developing both sides to enhance my Juju. Great concept! Coach Al

Hi Chris can you teach a No Gi Vs Gi hand grip class. There isn’t a lot classes on KZfaq teaching the transition between the two. I think you would have to use wrestling grips in lue ofcGi grips.

Its interesting, I always know if an opponent in no-gi is really good, like brown or black belt level, or if they have previously wrestled at a high level, because they hand fight much better than the average. Its an immediate red flag that this guy has some skills. I say this all the time to white belts- "You wrestled huh? your hand fighting is too good for a white belt" And its even obvious if they are good at BJJ hand fighting or wrestling hand fighting because its a little bit different. I cant even say how exactly? its just a bit different.
