Defensive guru Buddy Ryan makes his long-anticipated return to Texas Stadium as the head coach of the visiting 1-3 Arizona Cardinals. There to greet him is an energetic Dallas fanbase and a Cowboys squad loaded with perennial Pro Bowlers and future Hall of Famers.
The incomparable duo of Pat Summerall and John Madden are on the call for FOX. Enjoy!

It seems like the Cowboys were tougher to beat in Texas Stadium than in the AT&T Stadium.

As a fan of another team growing up, I hated playing at Texas Stadium and despised that touchdown, celebratory music. It played a lot in those days. Back then, winning there as a road team meant much more than Lambeau.

Buddy was so overmatched except for the next game in Arizona. They kept it close, but in 95 the Cowboys steamed rolled the Cardinals. The Cardinals had no QB and the defense was just a bunch of Buddy Ryan retreads like Seth Joyner, WIlbur Marshall , Clyde Smmons, Terry Hoage, etc. This wasn't the 1990 Cowboys where they got steamed rolled by the Eagles or the Cowboys in 1991 that let Aikman get sacked 11 times. This was a different team who had won 2 straight Super Bowls and had a lot of the talent still left. Buddy Ryan was over matched and he knew it deep down. That's why after he got fired in 1995, that was it for him where he went on his ranch to live out for the rest of his days.

Ryan was only good in his own time, which happened to be the dark ages of offensive football. That 46 crap would get pulverized in today’s game, something Mike Ditka actually told Ryan to his face. When they were getting creamed by Dan Marino in 1985, he told him at halftime that he needed to defend their 3WR set with a nickel set because the slot WR was killing his LB and S that were covering him. Oh but no, Ryan was so ideologically constipated about his bastard scheme that he actually tried to fight Ditka right there in the locker room. It’s a damn shame the Eagles didn’t retain him into the 1991 season because that game against the Oilers would have turned out quite different. He’d have gone in there with that stupid 46 front against Houston’s offense and Moon would have lit the skies just using Givins and Hill. Oh well

@@johnrobertson7571 you saw in this game and in the second game Michael Irvin just destroying James Williams in those two games. They singled him up on Irvin and Irvin just destroyed him just like he did in Super Bowl 27 when James Williams was with the Bills. Joe Gibbs figured it out with the 46 defense too. You saw it in the 86 playoffs as Washington either threw to the tight end or rolled out with 7 man protections and using Art Monk which he destroyed the Bears in the 86 divisional round and Gibbs against the Eagles would again use roll outs. Buddy Ryan was defensive coordinator for the Oilers in 93, but the offense with the run and shoot couldn't get any sustainable drives and were always 3 and outs. At least that in year in 85 the Bears did well enough offense so that the defense wasn't bailing them out all the time.

Buddy Ball….HA HA. My Cowboys may not be what they used to be but I’ll always cherish this 90’s team. I still think this ‘94 squad should’ve won it all had it not been for Erik Williams’ car accident and Emmitt’s hamstring injury. Could’ve won four straight but 3 of 4 was good enough for me!

Every time I rewatch a game from the Aikman led cowboys the more I laugh at Dak as a QB. Look at those passes. Last great QB we had. Emmitt barely played in this one and was only used around the goal line but Aikman was under a lot of pressure. So dont come with the oh he had that great line. Judge the arm talent not the stats 😂😂😂 Dak would be the back up coming in, in the 4th. What a joke. Getting paid like an elite, Franchise QB. Well, at least we have these uploads. Thank you.

Ah, Buddy Ryan left Chicago because he thought he should have been head coach. Went to Philadelphia where he went 0-3 in the playoffs. Went to Arizona where he never even made the playoffs. And Ditka won only two more playoffs games in his coaching career. Ironically, they were against Buddy Ryan's Eagles and against his future team, the Saints. They were better together than they were apart.
