Thanks to GameNight! for doing a complete runthrough of this game … really appreciate your willingness to play, film, edit, and present a video that took hours of work. The game is a little long, at least with 4 players, and the bookkeeping involved with combat is a little involved, but the fact the game ended so close is a testament to a well-designed game. Played this through the first time, using the recommended decks and the learn to play booklet. Wasn't fun as we kept breaking up the play to refer to the rules. Second time was slightly better having watched about thirty different videos. Then found this one and boy did it make a difference. Yes it's long, but so worth the effort to set aside the time to watch it. After this i only had one or two questions and i got the answer from the board game videos within minutes. A link to this should be included in the box, it's actually better than the Fantasy Flight video! Thank You .

Great video, thanks for posting. I wanted to bring up a few small rule corrections that I THINK were done incorrectly. If I am incorrect, please let me know. 1. When moving into the "Parlor", per the card it can only be moved into at the "end of the round". Here the players moved into it incorrectly during the middle of the round. 2. At 2:47:10 they state that if an event is "used" it then goes on the bottom of your deck. I checked the rules book and the learn to play and both state when an event card is used it goes into the discard pile. Just pointing those out for discussion. Otherwise, the amount of helpful explainers in this video was awesome!
@Diresword882 жыл бұрын
Always love discussion points :) Specially on 4-year old videos I don't think you are correct on #1. Unless there is another Parlor card from another set (I only have Night of the Zealot and Return to NOTZ). The Parlor card reads (excluding flavor text) - Side 1: "The entrance to the Parlor is blocked by a darkly glowing unfathomable barrier. You cannot move into the parlor." After being able to enter the Parlor, side 2 reads: (Resign) "This is too much for me" You run out of the front door, fleeing in panic. While Lita Chantler is not controlled by a player, she gain "(Parley), Test (int-4) If you succeed, take control of Lita Chantler. #2, definitely agree. They should have discarded the event card otherwise informed not to.
@Diresword882 жыл бұрын
Just finished the rest of the video and I think I found one more error :) Figured I'd post it for additional discussion from anyone. At 3:04:10, Nikki took damage from an Attack of Opportunity (AOO) because she moved while engaged with a creature. But, at 3:04:30, she engaged with another creature, the Ghoul Priest. Because she engaged as an action, the original creature engaged would get another AOO correct?
@mastercloud9772 жыл бұрын
@@Diresword88 Agree. Engaging is an action and would therefore elicit an attack of opportunity. In regards to my first point, the flavor text I am referring to is not on the parlor card. If you read the "Act" card, I believe it is Act 2a, on that card it says you can advance the act and specifically calls out "at the end of the round". My belief is that it set up this way to give you a chance to fight the ghoul priest at the start of the new turn (since he would then spawn at the end of the round during the end phase).
@Diresword882 жыл бұрын
@@mastercloud977 Hey Lucas, thanks for the quick reply! lol was expecting something a month out or so :D Got me digging through my cards over here! I think you are correct! I just pulled out the scenario for "The Gathering" and Act 2a's objective reads as follows: "When the round ends, investigators in the Hallway may, as a group, spend the requisite number of clues to advance" So only at the end of the turn AND in the hallway can the group advance the act to gain access to the Parlor. Thanks again for the reply, and pointing this out!

Great game an great explanation. 7:04 talking about lead investigator and player order. As I understand it, in Investigation Phase you can choose whichever order you want (begin with any player and continue not necessarily clockwise). In the other phases, and for some card effects (when the game tells "in player order"), you start from the Lead Investigator, and continue clockwise. 12:45 Also it can be an action of a card on another investigator's threat area (for example a weakness).
