The thing is that tournament wins with Fox are disproportional to the size of the player base. Fox really hasn't won as many tournament as you would expect given how many fox mains there are. I think in the last five years or so there have been more wins by Marth and Puff, and even before that he lagged behind. I wouldn't say Puff is better than Fox, I think hbox is just wildly good at the game, but I think it's not unreasonable to say Marth might be the best.

I still think Fox’s tool set is the best, not meta knight in brawl level, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have Fox in his own tier, as long as it’s stated that that doesn’t mean he’s the only amazing character

Based on statistics/results, Armada is unquestionably the goat. Whether or not you are "a fan of that" won't change that

@@TsunamiSurfaceWash The last time he was asked about over 2 years ago while he was playing Cody he said he didn't think the meta changed that much. This somehow got a huge reaction out of Mango and Leffen, they basically turned the community on Armada over nothing. I doubt Armada even wants to say anything about Melee's current state/how it's changed given how sensitive and insane the community is about this. As for if it's changed much. Not really, Amsa has been winning stuff for the first times in years, hbox is doing well despite doing mostly content. There's no reason to think Cody/Zain are better than Armada at his peak. It's also not important, but for some reason a very big deal for the community. In soccer, no one cares if Messi and Ronaldo are better than Cruyff or Pele. The comparison is not relevant, we just care that they are really good and the best of the current gen. It's a silly obsession that makes the community look petty imo

I'm not sure how long this was after his retirement but it does show he's still got it, and the change isn't that big. But again, it's not important. If anything I find it more disrespectful to suggest Armada is so quickly surpassed

Armada may have retired from tournaments, but he still loves the game and I think it's understandable for him to talk about so much.

I mean yeah he doesn't enter anymore but he still plays the game every now and then according to a twitlonger he posted. He still has alot of knowledge about the game and he watches top level games and knows how to analyze them
