I think it was a perfect way to end Erwin's arc. His primary goal originally was to find out what was in the basement, to prove his dad right, even if it meant sacrificing hundreds of his comrades. His final charge was a form of redemption, giving up his dream and life for the greater good of humanity.

I think Levi realized that if he let Armin die, it would have broken Eren permanently, which would also have broken Mikasa permanently. Eren would have stopped caring about humanity and would have given up on his dream for revenge and for a better world. Eren wouldn't be able to continue living or fighting knowing that the world wasn't even good enough for Armin. Levi had to sacrifice humanity's greatest commander for humanity's ace in the hole. The tragedy of this scene is that Eren's personality begins to warp after this scene regardless.

Levi is right when he says Armin will never replace Erwin. Levi also knows that Armin will be a great leader in his own way. Erwin was willing to sacrifice his troops at Any moment and Hange probably led in the same way. Armin’s view of life and the person he is will make him a leader worth following and protecting because he always tries to save as many lives as possible troops or civilians.

The problem is, Levi realized Erwin's dream is extinguished, Erwin's passion is no longer burning and stop at "I just want to see that basement, then what, I don't know" whereas Armin passion is still burning bright and as a result, a brimming unlimited potential. It is so beautifully written when Levi just realized that remembering the things Erwin said after his dying-body is in a trance, all he wanted now is to satisfy his own thrist and no longer the passion and the fire in the will. That's why Levi chose Armin in the end and decided to let Erwin rest in peace

The great thing about attack on titan is that the scouts don't get everything at once. Every battle is a tradeoff- they lose something and gain something. Every fight is a step forward. We all were especially thrilled that they got the power of the colossal( and whats more ARMIN got it!!) , but we can also see for that to happen a lot of sacrifices were made, especially Erwin.

WOW, I just realized. Even though Eren knew Erwin would be a better choice, just as Mikasa, he couldn't accept it, and still fought when even Mikasa gave up. He didn't care about humanity, he cared only about his friend. His friends were always above everything. And it led to the end that we have in manga.

I think it's dumb obvious that Armin deserved the serum over Erwin. Armin was fighting this entire time for humanity, always concocting the plays that win the battles. Erwin obviously did that too but he was much more okay with using people as pawns while he was fighting for self serving reason of proving to the world he was right. I always thought Erwin was sort of banking on getting the serum if shit went bad during this battle and that's good enough reason not to give it to him when he's willing to risk others lives but only his own when theres an ace in his sleeve.

I sometimes feel that Levi saw himself and Isabel and Farlan on those three, that's why at the end he decided to sacrifice Erwin, not only because he trusted in Mikasa, Eren and Armin but because at the time giving the syringe to Erwin would've been a dead end once he finally found out the truth, and eventually loose his goal

9:21 is criminally underrated, I think it's one of the most romantic moments in any anime I've ever seen. Eren is about to do something incredibly difficult, revealing his dead father's legacy in front of his superiors. Confronting his own past while carrying the hopes of Paradis' future, since everyone there hopes the book contains game-changing info. By opening the book with him, Mikasa was shouldering 50% of the burden. So that he wouldn't have to do it alone. You could easily feel twice as strong with someone like that standing next to you. Get yourself a partner like Mikasa or die trying P.S. mad respect to Hange and Levi, since they wisely acknowledged that it wasn't their place to open the book. That was the responsibility of the Shiganshina kids.

This was a rough one for me because it was hard to see two characters that I love dead or dying, knowing that the serum was enough for one person. Seeing both sides fight over who lives especially the other characters that you also like as well is just heart breaking! 💔 Armin burned to death to help Erin, Commander Erwin died as a strong soldier and promised himself to know the truth about his father and to save humanity as well.

There are many people out there who dislike this great show for no reason and I feel very sad about them 😔

I think this scene could have been more dramatic and one of the best in the business if the shoe Eren saw was of Carla and realise he was standing in the place where he last saw his mother arguing on the verge of her death plus getting the flashbacks of it as well. He could have broken down in tears and hug the shoe tightly remembering her mother and calling her for it meanwhile Mikasa could have comfort him with tears in her eyes as the others would have standing behind looking down in sadness and waiting for him to get a hold of himself in respect before moving on.

This whole series is just so sad. So well done
