As you say, the Swiss have a well trained population, but the big thing is geography. They have a three-fold advantage. First, the country is small in terms of land area and that makes it easier to defend with a small population. Second, the country is mountainous, so you can't just blitz it in a day or two and be done like you could on a relatively flat, open plain. Lastly, they are not surrounded by enemies. Ukraine has all three of these factors working against them. Large country so many places need defending, large areas of open plains so tanks can rumble easily through, and then well there's that neighbour of theirs. Hard to stay neutral and mind your own business.

I suppose you worked for most of your adult life and paid pension and health insurance contributions. In any normal circumstances I guess you are entitled to pension and health care benefits.
