“The Labour Party will give full support to Zelensky to show the resolution of the West and that President Putin can’t break that down.”
A “steadfast” support of Ukraine is at “the top of the Labour Party’s agenda”, says former foreign office minister Alistair Burt.

Starmer has a MASSIVE challenge!!! BOTH domestically and in terms of foreign policy... But this INSANE idea that he can knock both problems on the head at the same time... Is laughable! Put simply... He may well have to choose one, over the other. And trust me... If he puts global concerns FIRST... Then the UK will go up in flames! Much like how France seems about to now! I don't think the citizens of the UK gives two hoots about a war they barely understand... As they make their way to the food banks... Or struggle to pay their bills!

There's more to 'the British people' than those poor souls forced to queue up at food banks, thanks to 14 years of Tory mis-rule. Foreign policy is just as important to us all as domestic policy. I've met very few who don't stand with Ukraine against tyranny in Europe. You're obviously an exception, but don't presume to speak for us all.

@@ianworley8169 I don't presume to speak on behalf of the UK... But I do know that plenty of people are frustrated with these dangerous and foreign conflicts, during a VERY turbulent time in our country. Not sure if you've noticed, but there is a LOT of frustration within Western societies at the moment. For a whole multitude of reasons. Foreign policy being one. Particularly since this has SERIOUS implications for immigration. Also... Labour's landslide HAS been somewhat tarnished, by candidates who want a different narrative. I see what I see Dude. But by all means, stick your head in the sand if you must!

What about the broken people of the UK... Who are throwing much needed taxes on this pointless carnage? In a war barely any of them understands? And is 1000s of miles away? What about them? Are they not important too? It's nonsense like this which gets me very, VERY angry!!! And given the HUGE rise in the Far Right (and I'm in the Left!) it's obvious that MANY of us... On BOTH sides of the political divide... Are ANGRY too!!!

Supporting a regime that resembles that of a certain Austrian painter, supporting a collapsing motley crew whose trained soldiers were put six foot under a long time ago, supporting a so-called army that is incapable of holding ground, supporting one of the greatest money laundering and weapon re-selling events in history, supporting an economy and a currency that has all but collapsed, supporting the persecution of journalists and the orthodox church, supporting proposals to steal capital owned by foreign investors but even worse forcing European banks to underwrite the financial instruments that will enable this transfer of wealth !!! Yes, I can see where Keir's heart is.

@@SirDigby3601 I listened to the rest of Alistair's musings and it's obvious he's completely out of touch. I think sorting out the UK should be top priority for a UK government, not pretending we are a World power still. The UKs response to the Ukrainian conflict may have been justified if they had beaten Russia with the sanctions. Now it's just keeping up appearances until Ukraine collapses and Russia wins.
