This week’s Urban Valor episode features retired Army Staff Sergeant, William Faery. William was born in Lockport, NY and grew up on a junkyard. He moved around and ended up graduating high school in San Antonio, TX. William joined the Army as a “Medical Specialists” and was surprised to find himself in combat medic school involuntarily. He conducted multiple combat deployments, one of which he as a 68w Combat Medic where he treated 13 mass casualty incidents within just a 6-month time span while in Afghanistan. He leaves us with how his time in service affects his mental health and what he does to combat it.
Urban Valor interviews and shares the stories of our military veterans. Whether they are combat veterans or not, all of our military veterans have an incredible story to tell. If you are a veteran or know a veteran who'd like to share their story, don't hesitate to email us at team@urbanvalor.com.

It gives me chills to listen to the Afghanistan deployment because I was one of his Soldiers. Believe every word he says, because it’s true. It’s me Cruz, Doc! Much love. The girl was biting her tongue and seized up, and scalped…man, I vividly remember this too.

I joined shortly after SGT F. MP first. Switched to Medic 2007/08. When I went to Iraq 2003-04, the “Highway of death” was still littered with all the burned out vehicles from Desert Storm. Crazy seeing all that. I think we were all that guy in shower shoes, PT’s, LBV and Kevlar running out there.

I hope that everyone understands that the difference between military vs civilian medics are minimal mentally. Mental health is a paramount priority concern and needs to be addressed better.

I love these videos! It can be tough for some to speak about what they seen. But, it can also be therapeutic at times because you’re getting it off your chest. I was a 19K but only got to use the tank during my 06-08 deployment. After that, we were in humvee’s and on foot. I think I’m gonna send y’all an email. Much love from Texas🤙

We’d love to talk Richard! And that’s been the most enjoyable benefit for us that we thought was possible but never imagine the response and Impact. Nearly all of our vets who sat in the chair shared therapeutic relief, happiness, ease of tension, etc once finished. We’ve seen weight being lifted off their shoulders and truly been told that it’s been a life changing feeling. It’s an honor to do what we do. We definitely don’t take it lightly!

I got out in 89’ army last duty station Germany, I told everyone, get out there’s gonna be a war! Just like he said I didn’t wanna go to war even though I was in the Army. I tell everyone uncle sam had 4 years to get into a war, not my fault I had the best commander-in-Chief in the 20th century Ronaldus Magnus, peace through strength.
