This was a great video and love seeing stuff like this. I always want to find armies people say are trash or not competitive etc and then somehow make them good. I love how you say coming up against it you underestimate it which I know I would definitely do minus the numbers would scare me. I saw one list that looked scary where someone brought Thor with the upgraded Grim Hammers and the rest numbers etc. Have you liked/tried this a bunch at all?

@@AngmarCaptain Great to hear man! The Into the West guys always crush it. Sounds interesting, I haven't come across that but S4 and throwing weapons sound like a nice add and Thror gives you a super tanky leader. I like it!

Great cast guys. Lots of sweat lords in Scotland have just invested in this army its a nightmare. Being able to ally in any big toys you want to an army with 40/50 guys is nuts. Heard rumours its being nerfed but nothing concrete. Celeborns/Cirdans aura of command gets rid of any terror problems

This was a great listen! Lake-town and friends or Lake-town soup as it's been dubbed, has been running pretty rampant in the UK meta lately. Like Andrew said, for roughly 350pts you get the three core heroes and a 42 model count. At events between 600 and 800pts for example, you then have anywhere between 250 - 450pts to ally in any of Legolas, Thorin, Saruman, either version of Galadriel, Gwaihir, Cirdan, Glorfindel etc - the toolkits any combination of those heroes can provide is simply amazing, they can also bring along F5/F6 supports and calvary which the list doesn't have

Agree, it’s a super versatile list for alliances and an easy way to run big heroes and have enough bodies at the same time. -Charles

I find it strange you did not talked about Bombur. He can give Alfred new Will points on an 4+ every turn. Since it is an green allience you can bring him alone into the army

The time has come to FAQ this, make braga etc mini heroes so it can not be spammed out, or make it red alliances to all armies , the ability to just shove in glorfindel/cirdan , white council etc on 650 with 40 plus models fight 4 mega might army is just to much, people are exploiting it more lately, hopefully this it will get adressed, good Vid as always

How do you guys rate lake town now with the FAQ in August, still a 500 pt power house but it probably falls off too hard at 650 now as you cant just take galindriel and sauruman you need to take bard now?

I recently took it to a 700 point event with Gandalf and Thorin allied in, and it wasn’t great. I’d say it’s still pretty good at low points (500 and lower), just not as powerful as before. Close to unplayable at high points. We talk about the FAQ changes to this army in detail in our August 2023 FAQ review episode! -Charles

People don't take lake town seriously!? Practically unlimited might or till the game is done. At which point you've burned most armies out long ago with the numbers and might farming. A wound and a dice to chuck is still massive. More so when you almost always outnumber your opponent 2-1 atleast.

Wait, laketown is considered an underdog army? Its been a massive nemesis for years at least where I play. Nobody underestimates it.

@@intothewestpodcast a nordic country. Its not a common army to see (although nowadays its more common due to Assault on Lothlorien) but just found it astonishing that people would feel overconfident against it like mentioned in the podcast. When facing 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 odds + immense banner and shooting who is going to roll up to the table feeling confident :D? Or in ally lists seeing the likes of Gwaihir and Glorfindel backed by 40+ warriors under Cirdan's buffs..

@@Corppi22 I think it's mostly the less seasoned players that feel like that when they see the D4. The number of seasoned vets would of course depend on the community but I would agree at this point, anyone who has played competitively should rightfully fear this army! And just to add on, I don't really think it's an underdog army, rather more of a sleeper. Slight difference to me meaning something underdog is more underrated vs sleeper is more of a less known entity haha For those that know about it, it's definitely properly rated, which is top shelf! -Richard

I cant belive they want 40 Euros for the minas thirith soldiers dont get me wrong im a huge lotr Fan they Look cool but 40 or 50 Euros no thanks games Workshop should lower the prices

Agreed on the prices. The good thing about Minas Tirith though is there’s a Battlehost you can get that comes with a decent amount of savings. -Charles
