Ok so there's been a lot of speculation over whether this movie is connected to Snyder's other Zombie Movie Dawn Of The Dead. Whilst you can probably draw your own head canon over how the films are linked, Insider did come out with an interview earlier in the week which cleared up a lot of the confusion.
Now whilst there have been theories that after the events of Dawn the Government held onto a zombie who would later go on to become the Alpha Zeus, Snyder has stated that the movies aren't connected.
Whilst we know little of the world before the events of the movie we will eventually get some answers as Netflix have already greenlit an prequel which will follow the safe cracker Ludwig. Titled Army Of Thieves, this movie actually finished filming in Decemeber 2020 so we can probably expect to see it at some point either towards the end of the year or at the start of the next one.
Netflix have also greenlit an anime television series called Army Of The Dead: Lost Vegas which will follow some of the characters from the movie and what they did in the early stages of the outbreak.
So we have a lot of things that will be filling in character backstories and potentially even the origin of the Alpha Zombie, Zeus. Maybe they'll even find something to bring Joss Whedon's Career back from the dead, I said are you having that!
Now that kinda takes us to the opening of the movie which follows the escape of the aforementioned God Of The Dead. The creature has been kept underground at Area 51 for several years and when the military transport him across the desert he manages to break free after someone is getting brains and they crash their car into the carrier.
Is getting brains a Zombie pun? I dunno but we're leaving it in any way.
He kills most of the soldiers there and infects the rest before setting his eyes on the city of sin to make one of the most unique settings for a Zombie movie this side of Train To Busan.
The government quarantine the entire city and I love how in the opening montage we get a modern swing version of Viva Las Vegas. You might remember that Dawn Of The Dead had a similar style with us getting a swing version of Down With The Sickness and I love that Snyder carried this aesthetic across to this movie.

This was one of the most unique zombie movies, that's for sure. I could've done probably without the whole daughter side quest thing, could've prob shaved 30 min off that 2½ hour run time (and where was the other girl she went to save after the chopper "landed??" Lol)....the ending was pretty cool, I knew they'd set it up THAT WAY (don't wanna spoil anything,,even on HEAVY SPOILERS, just in case), in order to maybe build a franchise..

I caught that "robo-zombie" too... at the end, Zeus seems to have some blue blood, so that squashed my thoughts that that other one was a robozombie but who knows i guess... knew I wasn't going crazy!

My favorite part was that they took the time to have a full on conversation before loading into the helicopter at the end and taking off, giving Zeus enough time to climb the stairs and reach them, killing everyone but Kate as a result.

I thought the movie was good it had great concepts and story but it did fall a bit flat in certain aspects..... Its not the greatest zombie movie and its not the worst but in my list of top 10 zombie movies all time id say it ranks around 8 or 9.... Just my humble opinion i do look forward to the pre quil army of thieves.. .

Kate is the type of character you hate to see survive at the expense of others because her actions have dire consequences and yet lives at the end. Also i hate that Dieter's sacrifice was in vain, he was a good guy and i wished he had survived unharmed and uninfected with the money.

At one point when Chambers (dual weild girl) died she could've easily told coyote and the rest of the team who the imposter was instead of yelling "run away" later on at the hatch scene, when he closes the hatch. This all could've been prevented as well seeing as tho the French girl knew he was a traitor and also knew what his goals and intentions were. So why let him go ahead of yourself and the rest of the group?

He can't for 2 reasons 1. The crew would've disagreed because they don't want any more zombies outside of Vegas 2. This will imply that the zombie's head would cost more than $200 million dollars therefor the crew would just take the head for their own instead which is easier and forget about the money.

@@bobcatinsag739 Points taken however... 1. Whether it's their team or not. For 200mil, a group w/o a moral compass would definitely do it. As there was a group prior who failed an attempt. Proving there were other options other than scott's team. 2. There was no need for explaining the worth & purpose of a captured "alpha" head. Tanaka's guard Martin (he was just an ass & jeopardized the mission) could have been nice the whole movie & played it off as collecting a live alpha sample for clinical studies( or whatever bs) before the imminent Nuclear strike was to happen & would have wiped out the "kingdom" & most likely killing all the zombies that were in it . (The queen was technically just an "alpha" compared to the original "zeus zombie" & any other alpha zombie would have sufficed) Killing specifically the queen ruined the truce & ultimately got them killed. 3. (Kind of a reach) For an easy 200mil scott's team may have not cared much about the captured "alpha" as much as getting the money due to their displacement in society & financial issues. (Those who lived in vegas were treated as refugees after the outbreak) Note: The downfall of my argument is that Coyote seems to be the only who has knowledge of the "System in the Kingdom" it got them really far on their mission. Without her i doubt but it still may be possible other teams would have gone far. They were on a tight schedule after all due to the imminent nuclear strike.

There are so many mistakes with that Film.... 1. No insurance would pay you a dime because it is a Zombie Invasion... 2. If they want a Zombie head, why the other teams tried also to reach the money. 3. Why in Hell he takes the head of the Queen and not the other Alpha he killed seconds before.... So many strange things in that movie like the UFOs, Cyborgzombies or that the other team were dressed like them... I could go in the whole day 😂😂😂

Actually, you see in a wide shot in the final scene that she's slumped over and half hanging out of the cockpit. Kate saw that when checking on Tig and was obviously dead.

@@SML783 I think no one would have agreed to help Bly with the objective to make more zombies, hence the cover of the heist. It also seemed like the US army was in cahoots with Bly as they were shown in the background in one of his scenes. So why couldn't they send the army to retrieve the head? Maybe Bly really did want the money as well? Also if only the alphas have blue blood, then why didn't the queen's head have blue light shining when it hit the pavement. So Many Questions! also it's weird how the skeletons were all dressed similarly to them. Also odd that Geeta's dead body wasn't shown when they panned on Tigg's body and showed everyone's death. it's like are they hinting she got scratched and survived?

@@SML783 1. Get other people then, heck, bad guy bagged the queen head almost singlehandedly near the ENTRANCE of the city. 2. If he really needed Batista’s group for reasons, offer them all the money in the vault (since Tanaka doesn’t care about retrieving the money) in return for just one alpha zombie head.

Dude most of those characters, the actors made the roles super corny. And was unwatchable at some points. Batista did do well, using his size to handle the zombies was believable. His daughter was a waste of screen time, just one of many dumb corny characters!

I'm in awe as I've always dreamed of getting into voice-over work (I'm bilingual and thought that could be useful but don't really know where to start & would love to hear more if you have any recommendations). My favorite part was daughters selfishness is the reason why Scott and pilot died. She knew the timeline, and still decided to go look for the girl (she didnt bother to see if alive after the crash). Not to mention had Scott and pilot decided to just ditch her, even if the zombies dont chase daughter, she'd still be dead because SHE KNEW A NUKE WAS GONNA DROP ON SITE.

Agreed, she could have survived imo. Coyote knew things, she knew the rules and how things work with the alpha zombies so she could have somehow communicated her way out. Also, in an interview (by Entertainment weekly), Zack spoiled a little about the future of the characters in AOTD. Watch right in the end. its ~16 mins long

Kate was the real villain in this movie. Almost everyone’s death can be linked to her. The woman she risked everyone’s life to save........ended up dying. Kate was the one who survived, she’s a good villain, she killed the protagonist which is her dad, all those thing they did was in vain because of her stupidity those mothers she had to recur, well she didn’t bring any back

It was an okay movie. Zombies had the feel of the infected in “I am Legend”. Time loop theory is interesting especially since the scenes with the main characters in the beginning sequences of the movie were not how the movie played out.

Because the filmography was excellent with creative sets. The movie goes beyond just average. But what brought the movie to a poor entertainment was the corny characters. 75% of the team was corny and Because they were so playful or had unrealistic goals in such circumstances and was not under the influence made it hard to believe.

Maybe them being stuck in a timeloop is some sort of reference to edge of tomorrow, in which (at least if I remember correctly) the person who kills an alpha alien gains the ability to start the day over and over again. Well, we didn’t know if Zeus was a zombie or test subject gone wrong. They never actually stated what he was. He came from Area 51, for all we know he could have been a human alien hybrid that mutated to a savage killer and infecting others. It also seems like only Zeus can turn others into alphas.

As you know zombie movie rules , small scratch with zombie teeths means you know you'll became a zombie but slowly slowly. And if youre dead instantly then, you'll change into zombie as soon as you die.

Yes!!! I didnt understand the reference or explanation of that if they werent going to show it. This movie was made like the viewer knows whats going on. Not enough back story so either itll be explained in sequel or a prequel will be made.

The actor is actually a member of Alpha Phi Alpha. His character is a Que. It was Snyder’s idea to add that to the character. Pretty cool to me.

The Omega symbol is a nod to the omega psi phi fraternity that you see at Historically Black Colleges & Universities. The members of that fraternity often have the Omega symbol branded on them

Also, think about resident evil when Alice and the other was transformed due to bites

The best charecter was that zombie dude who had no dialogue. The movie is just a set up to a sequel that wont happen.
