How to Fold T-Shirt for Vacation (Ranger Roll) - Efficient, Compact, Space-Saving Army Packing Hack

12 жыл бұрынI know people love folding their shirts in 2 seconds. It's all good fun, but not very useful when you're packing for a trip and looking for a compact, efficient folding method. Instead try what I'm showing you in this video. This is an easy, fast technique to pack your clothes real tight in whatever bag/backpack/suitcase you're using. In this video, I go slow and explain things, but with practice you can ranger roll really quickly. Also, check out my newer version of this tutorial where I show some shortcuts.
Learn to fold your clothes Army-style with this clever, neat DIY technique. In this video I explain how to Ranger roll a military tan T-shirt or any other shirt for that matter. There's also a newer version of this tutorial on my channel, where I add a few hacks to make this folding technique faster and easier if you're in a hurry. This will help you out bunches if you're fixing to go on a trip or PCS, or to basic training or any other military school. Either way, with a bit of patience you can pack your clothing a LOT tighter than you would with most other methods of folding. Super useful for air travel, road trips, camping, backpacking, survival, hunting, boating - you name it! Also comes in handy if you're just trying to organize clothes in your living space, closet, drawers, etc. (Check out additional tutorials on my channel for other clothes types: underwear, pants, shorts, and so on.)

Not only are all my clothes rolled into burritos, but my furniture, appliances, silverware, rugs, television, blankets, napkins, towels even mattresses have all been easily bundled into burrito perfection. Hahaha I did this with my clothes when traveling to Sweden. Let's just say TSA wasn't to happy about the way my clothes were rolled up. I used this video for instructions. As well as other videos for my pants. TSA ripped my holy suit case apart as well as unrolled everything for a "random" search. Took me forever to roll all those clothes back up and the TSA agents sat there and watched me. As I was being searched and asked questions he said there is no such thing as the ranger roll and people only do that to hide something. 😂😂😂 I was beyond heated that day. In addition to getting through customs.

The first time I rolled a ranger roll, I didn’t do it properly but I chucked it at a wall and it stayed TIGHT. It’s a very nice roll, and thank you for showing me the proper way

TIP: When rolling use 3 fingers of each hand to “pull” the garment towards you as you roll with thumbs and index fingers. This helps keep the garment in line and reduces wrinkles and bunching as you approach the end of the roll.

It's a T-shirt burrito! :D Thank you very much for these videos. I've never been in the military, but I'm going on a trip soon and I HATE packing suitcases. We never check luggage and always use our carry-ons when we fly. So I was looking for quick, easy, space saver suggestions and this is perfect! Now I have room for souvenirs! :)

Just asking I live in Puerto Rico so everyone calls me gringo and I'm actually joining the military also but where do/did you live that you call yourself gringo?

Anthony Cruz I've lived all over the U.S. and overseas since I joined the Army, but I never lived in Puerto Rico or anywhere south of the border, for that matter. I chose "gringo" as a part of my channel name since that's what some Hispanic people call us, Americans, in Spanish. And, since I'm in the Army and some of my vids are Army-related, I added that and gringo, hence "armygringo." I hope that doesn't offend anyone.

You only need two shirts for long backpacking and canoeing trips. You have one for the trail (or lake) and one for camp. You keep clothing weight to a minimum (one set for the trail and one for camp). Socks are the only clothing item where you want more than two sets. You rotate through three pairs of socks (one pair for the morning, one for the afternoon, and one to wear when you make camp for the night while the other two pairs are drying out).

I've found that rolling up shirts well will actually get rid of the wrinkles. Like in the video, his shirt was very wrinkly but in a couple hours if you unpack that shirt, it'd probably look almost ironed.

Dave Marx Doesn't look like it, though. Yes, the outside of the roll is stretched out and very smooth but the inside is the opposite from what I can see.

Both generally. I've been rolling clothes when I pack since childhood. My grandfather taught me. He was a career Navy man. But we don't use the cuff at the bottom. I like that addition and will be doing that too from now on
