I love you guys. Watching your videos is like sitting down with best friends and knitting. You encourage and teach without talking down to us or acting like our questions, or problems, are dumb and unimportant. Thank you. And, if you guys ever come out with a shirt or sweatshirt that says, "It's not rocket science, it's just knitting" I will be one of the first to get one!

"It's not rocket science, It's just knitting." had to laugh and it helped me to relax about being a beginner again... I was feeling like such a failure and now, I've finished a few small projects with a few mistakes. I didn't rip them up... Just laughed at myself and finished the project. Beauty marks, I call them. Thanks for the loving and informative videos. Because of you, I won't give up this time. I'm having fun. Thanks, Lynn

So glad to know that this twisting is normal. I was thinking I was the only one this happens to and decided to search KZfaq for the solution. You guys make me feel so much better about the “issue” that I am not going to fret any more. When the balls get twisted, I will just stop, untwist them patiently and look at the work to see just how worth it it really is. And it’s always worth it! Thank you!

Hello Arne & Carlos, hope you're well. I came across you guys quite by accident when I was looking for a special book on World of Books. I then bought and downloaded your book of 55 Christmas Balls to Knit Patterns from Kindle and also found you on KZfaq. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making these videos. I learned knitting during my school days from a close cousin of mine. My late Grandma Violet was very Crafty but she never knits or crochet, late Grandma Theresa had a stroke in her early Fifties, so I didn't have any Grandmas to teach me to knit or crochet like other lucky people... so I'm grateful to you both for taking the time to make your amazing videos to show and teach us the 'how to knit..etc.'. I knit the old fashion way (right-handed knitter) and I learned that, in order for the balls of yarn to not tangle, I have the main colour ball on my right (yarn above my right index finger) and the changing colour on the left ( yarn below my right index finger) holding both yarns at the same time, so that I can change the colours easily without the tangles and tight tension, hope you know what I mean and hope this helps. Thank you and have a lovely day.

I have to say, you must think we are all so stupid 🤣 I was almost in tears from the twists, I love using lots of colours but, I thought to myself “there is NO way advanced knitters are running into this issue” Thank you, thank you times a thousand. I have been twisting the colours each stitch, rather than just twisting at the switch, and carrying it! As for untwisting, I’ve spent hours. I mean HOURS, untwisting from the other end instead of turning my work upside down & letting it untwist. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Thank you guys. SO much for making this video-it’s such common sense but I guess us new knitters just lack that in knitting 😂 I do at least!

Arne and Carlos. Thank you for your tutorials. Thanks to your tutorials I have taught myself how to knit Scandinavian style and I am loving it. I have tried other methods (i.e., Peruvian, Continental, etc) and none seemed comfortable. However the Scandinavian came quite natural and I have not had trouble with the tension. I already bought three of your books. Cannot wait to finish the sweater I am working on to begin on a slipper and then to one of the dolls from your dolls book. They are all beautiful!!! Do you think you will be making a tutorial on how to knit intarsia using the Scandinavian method? thank you!!!! Raúl

Some videos on yutube tell me to always pick up the new yarn from under the current yarn, which does twist the yarn. Now I see that it does not matter if you pick up the new yard from under or from over the current yarn. This does simplify life, as I am starting to do color knitting.

We designed that sweater, yes. But we didn't make it. It's a very fine gauge sweater made on an electronic knitting machine. It comes from our previous line, when we were designing, manufacturing and selling ready--to-wear knitwear to hight end stores world-wide. This particular design is from 2009.

Hi Carlos and Arne, when dropping to untwist yarn, this works ok with yarn like Noro Ito. Unfortunately with single ply merino like Malabrigo Worsted it pulls the work too tight. I have tried the way Arne keeps the yarn in the left hand and although ackward at first I have gotten better at it and it turns out great! Love your videos!

thank you ... would this work in m y situation? I am using double strand from same ball to use up my stash for a striped project. The twists are unmerciful and quickly turn into knots if I am knitting very quickly and don't notice. I have had to invent untwist maneuvers which are very clumsy and awkward, but I do want to knit 2 strands to use up my stash; some I am just doing with 2 balls of different colors, but I don't really grasp what you are showing. I will rewatch a few times. I only knit continental wound around left index finger. Liked and sub for sure! Bravo!

I'm pretty good with keeping the 2 colors not too twisted, but is there a way to control the balls, themselves to prevent the yarn from kinking, as you have some major kinks, there. I think it's sometimes called biasing. Thanks! Really enjoy your videos.

I have a quedtion please. You addressed the dual twisting up of the two colors together however, how do you deal with each individual color? They were both severly twisted up onto themselves. How does that occour or why and please, I would like to prevent that from happening to my yarns. I"ve noticed some people seem to add a twist to their knitting by just knitting. While others do not. This is obvious when you are say at a knitting gethering by the multiple difference in results styles etc. Great learning experience. Very exciting. All the varieties of peoples needle types, cords, yarns, color ccombinstions, techiques color mixtures sampeling its a creativuty party if images my mind will forever be replayning in various situations making creativity more genierious. As artists I think it is a creativity encouragement but a necessity for a life long artist and instructor. For me it is imperitive to experiece teaching and taking classes with others to see all the different approaches when everyone that starts with the same basic matetials to create say the same object, pattern, or stitch. I find it helps me and really helps my students,So important I just Love it! Thank you. I hope you get an opportunity to approach this question also. Some get twisted others don't even using the exact needle cord and yarn set up. I'm talking abuot people who use the same cord and needle certaintly. As we know there are some cords that don't ever twist up onto themselves like ChiaGoo cords, which I love because I have a twist to my knitting just from knitting. Also another brand has a connector piece for the cord that attatching needle size, they are some type of Hiya Hiya interchangable needles when converting I believe to a different size cord using a larger or smaller interchangable needle set. I'm not certain of the direction up or down as I don't have them. But a friend does and she just adores them.

Because I enjoy the reverse side patterns in twisting and layering of the yarn, reversing the twist as in example 1 would be verboten. I’ve always done example 2. It’s a nice thing to do as it gives me a break ... I can knit for hours on end, so, taking a slow but short break is ALLLLLLLways a welcomed thing!!
