It's important to compare this phrase with other similar words/phrases to really understand the difference.
What's the difference between:
I should go.
I must go.
I am supposed to go.
I am supposed to be going.

In most videos of different authors I usually have to switch from the author's "hand-made" subtitles to auto-generated subs from KZfaq even if they are not always correct. Because "hand-made" subs almost never stay a millisecond longer after a phrase is finished, and you always have to pause the video if you want to check what is being said. Unfortunately this video is not an exception. Instead, auto-generated subtitles are word-for-word captions that stay for some time after the words are said. Thanks for the video. It is super useful, as always👍

Dear Arnel, I really appreciate your efforts to clarify the use of the structure be + supposed to + V1. The use of should is very common. Ex. You should follow the necessary instructions. Use of be supposed to seems to be formal & less common. We normally use You are supposed to work hard / you are expected to work hard . Can we use ought to in place of be supposed to ? Does the structure be supposed to show something is expected to happen but unlikely ? I am a bit confused. Would you be so kind as to clarify the same ?
