Great advice. Arnold is saying "Move forward, improve, work hard and have fun" DESPITE your insecurities and flaws...which as he pointed out, never really go away. You just have to take action regardless of their voices. Great lesson for a perfectionist like myself. What I get from Arnie is that he's just incredibly, incredibly grateful.

I had to laugh when Arnold talks about his pedagogic methods. I grew up in Austria too and this sounds very familiar. It was still like that back in the 70ies (when I grew up). Everybody talks about resilience these days, and I believe that resilience is built among other things on experiences of hardship that one has been able to deal with, so it is only right if a parent gives this sort of experience in dosed quantities to a child. With my parents, we went skiing for a week every winter in february, but it was skiing in the mountains with no lifts. To go downhill, we had to go uphill first by ourselves with furs on our skis. The reward were completely pristine slopes and beautiful landscape.

Really great interview, Rich. Arnold's documentary is really worth a watch. It doesn't shy away from his failures/insecurities which I really appreciated and touched on here. The one thing I took away from this interview was his approach to changing the narrative/language to climate concerns. Rather than talk about climate he talked about pollution to Republicans which was something they could agree on and relate to. I thought that was an interesting perspective. It's about finding the language that will mean something and resonate with the particular person/group you're talking to. Very smart.

Thank you for this interview Rich! I love that Arnold is talking about the victim mindset. His examples of raising his kids made me chuckle. I don’t remember the infraction, but my son did something and was given a second chance. Ultimately, he decided on doing whatever he wanted. His consequence was to take an entire cord of wood and unstuck it, and then re-stack it. He wasted our time in so he needed to have an experience of wasting his period. He turned out to be an amazing hard-working, respectful human being. Our culture is steeped in the victim, mindset and it’s nauseating to me. Everyone is going through something in life that is difficult. Many people have had traumatic horrific experiences, and they compartmentalize those and move forward in life. We choose how we conduct ourselves today. We choose if we live in the past and drag that baggage forward with us all through life. I, like Arnold, choose to remember the sweetness of my childhood. There was plenty of the other that I just choose not to focus on. Living in the victim mindset is destructive to yourself and everyone around you. You will never live life fully in that headspace. thank you Arnold… Cannot wait to read your book!

Glad your son is doing well, it must have been so difficult to watch him got lost. I do agree a lot of people have victim mentality these days and don't take responsibility for themselves. But in someway a lot of it is engineered by those in power for political gain. Rich should have Dr Shiva Ayyadurai on his podcast/interview, Dr Shiva came from the low caste untouchable in India, and he is the original inventor of email at age 14, he's been fighting injustice all his life, and try to raise consciousness rather than being a victim. What Arnold talk about the false news about voting fraud, that is false news to distract from the real voting fraud that Dr Shiva discovered and has been exposing after the two political parties colluded to steal election win from him.

He has been an inspiration to me as far back as I can remember. He himself has conquered many stereotypes. People so often have thought bodybuilders are all a bunch of dumb-jock meat heads. It is completely untrue, and that applies to so many people in every walk of life. I think it's natural for mammals to assess and judge, and it goes back to our primordial brain and survival mechanisms. I'm diving too deep; but in general, you can't judge anyone until you try to understand them and know their story.

Arnold is great, we need more men like him. Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men and weak men create bad times. We live in a time with feminized men who are the big victim, who are creating really bad times.

When he mentioned the situation about the matrass it reminded me of my dad. We were well off (not rich) but very comfortable. I remember a time when I was reminded to clean-up and tidy my bedroom. I disregarded it and my dad said: "I will throw all your shit in the dumpster" - which he did. He went through my room and discarded many of my belongings in the dumpster. It was a good lesson and I still remember this today.

As to be expected....EXCELLENT. There's nothing like having someone being upfront in passing on their hard learned wisdom to be absorbed into one's own life (if one chooses to do so). Whether you agree or disagree with Arnold is irrelevant. What is important is that you can not ignore his path of success and that he now is trying to pass it onto others speaks volumes of the kind of guy he is. In a nutshell in my very humble opinion, that these are the kind of heroes we should all seek out. What else could you expect from such an icon like Arnold? Great stuff.👌😊

Now listening to his interviews captivate most of us that watch them not just as fans but because many of us need some of the things he mentions in order to make our lives better. I was a huge fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger's movies as a kid in the eighties and nineties. I also really admired his bodybuilding career. I didn't follow his political career, but I'm Canadian so that's why. I liked his return to movies and was surprised at his emotional depth in the movie, "Maggie". I think Terminator: Dark Fate is fantastic 👌. I like where Arnold is today and appreciate his words of wisdom and his enduring sense of humor.

I am 52 and a good friend who I had known for 25 years and played soccer with, ( pick up games) Steve Strumberger immigrated from Austria and recently passed at 86 always told me, Look and what you have and not what you don't, he always had this view of America that most people born here either lost or never had. some of these comments quoting him out of context or citing dark spots in his personal history are missing the point. Clearly, Arnold is a complicated and flawed man who also has achieved staggering amounts of success through personal effort and outreach. You can have a noteworthy message to share or story to tell while also not being a perfect human or not always saying things that everyone will agree with. Most great people are exactly that. You gotta take the good with the bad. Huge props to Rich for having him on the show, it's super boring to have guests on that everyone loves without exception!
