Loved Arnold since I was a kid, always looked up to him. I was always worried that the 'real' him would never live up to my expectations of him....yet he fully surpassed it and stayed grounded. He has a big ego but in a weird way it's a respectful ego. I attribute that to him being raised in Europe, where kids are mostly brought up to have a bit more respect. His documentary on Netflix really solidified my thoughts of him. He's willing to admit his mistakes and is always trying to exceed expectations and evolve in a positive way.

Yeah, it was intentional, the amount of references slipped into that whole exchange, not to mention the fact that Colbert just so happened to have a picture of Arnold and Gorbachev right there, AS Arnold launched into a monologue about Gorbachev....it was scripted. The whole thing. They played it off as a conversation/interview of course because I mean they're both actors, that's kinda what they do.
@MandleRoss
@MandleRoss 2 ай бұрын
@@adamb89 The show is rehearsed to some degree, but the guests are rarely there for it. There were obvious cases, like the staged smackdown fight between Colbert and Bruce Willis, but usually the interviews are pretty spontaneous. As the grandchild of holocaust survivors, I think people really need to listen to how prophetic Mr. Schwarzenegger‘s words are. He grew up in a time where, instead of going against the Nazi party, many people in Germany and Austria went along thinking. Maybe this will make Germany great again, maybe this will make Austria great again, but it didn’t. Now you did have people stand up against the Nazis, and they were quickly taken care of. Maybe if you had many many more standup the outcome might’ve been a little different. But sometimes you have to have the courage even though if you do that means certain demise. You don’t change history for the better with complacency or collaboration. Not to mention the fact, Arnold Schwarzenegger has always been a good dude. Yes there’s been issues and transgression but we’re all human. At the end of the day, the guy has tried to be better. He’s tried to inspire people to have courage, and that is incredibly powerful.

They do rehearse. Stephen has said so in the past. This is TV, after all. The only Questionert I have seen that appeared unrehearsed is the one with Barbara Streisand in her home.

In a world where political correctness and cancel culture has ruined careers of those in the public eye, networks can't risk having talk show guests saying what they really think and feel unfiltered/uncensored.

So I say to myself “ if he picks one of his own damn movies, I’m going to stop watching right now.” Then, a monumental surprise landed as he declared Titanic as his favorite action film! It was almost endearing to hear such a man say something as epic as that; it was incredible. And then I sadly slumped over and put my head in my hands when he came back with “[or] Terminator 2.” Smh

He is a really interesting person with an amazing story, and if you want to hear a longer more indepth interview, try the one with Rich Roll. I so enjoyed it. Arnold really blew me away with his insight on history and life in general. I wish more of our current politicians in the US could be even remotely like him.
