It's always fun to watch interviews of actors and stars in these press junkets, but really, my favorite kind is when they just have a roundtable disucssion between themselves, talking about the craft; without any interviewer asking them questions they've answered a thousand times. Great vid, EW !

The conversation actually got really interesting near the end, like we actually got to hear the actors talk about the craft of voice acting and their process which we don’t get to hear often compared to just regular actors. Lots of great advice for aspiring voice actors in here.

The movie was great, I think it succeeds at meeting expectations and doing justice to the games. It's very faithful to the video games and has tons of nice Easter eggs and references to them, some pretty cool unexpected ones too. If you're a Mario fan like me I assure you will enjoy this film. Having said that, I just want to clarify some things the actors are misremembering/misinterpreting/do not know about the original games. To be clear, I don't blame them for not knowing the Mario lore by memory, and all I personally care about is that they do a good job in the movie (which they did, well done), and just want to leave this here to clarify any possible misinformation that may happen due to people not knowing the lore watching this. Originally, sure, Mario was willing to save Peach though he didn't know much about her, but to be fair, 40 years ago games weren't concerned with plots, in fact it was extremely uncommon for games to even have a plot and a visible reward (such as rescuing Peach) instead of just Congratulation screens (Like "A winner is you") once you finish the game. And, most importantly, they're forgetting to mention how the characterization of Peach and Mario has evolved through the decades, they were strangers at first for sure (just like every romance starts, I'd like to point out) but afterwards they have always been hinted to be love interests many times ever since Super Mario World and their relationship gets more fleshed out in the following decades in stuff like supplemental materials and spin-offs like the RPGs coming all the way to Super Mario Odyssey which confirms that Mario have romantical feelings for her, solidifies her as his Love Interest, and is willing to crash a wedding and stop Bowser from stealing Peach from him. That is certainly strong love, forged after many decades. Also Peach being a heroine has happened in the games as well contrary to popular belief, she's not always the damsel in distress unlike many think and she has proven that if she wants to she can be just as badass as in the movie, Peach has helped Mario as a fellow heroine multiple times in multiple games, and even swapped rescue roles with him once in her game, Super Princess Peach, rescuing Mario from Bowser single handily. Also to repeat what others have already correctly pointed out and add some other corrections: *The damsel in distress in the original Donkey Kong is Pauline not Peach. Peach debuted in Super Mario Bros. years later. *Pauline is not a princess, she's Mario's original girlfriend and neither of them have feelings for DK. *And Princess Peach has always been the character's name in Japan, it started being used overseas in Yoshi's Safari, and most famously, Super Mario 64.

Peach was a crucal player in both Super mario Bros 2 and Super mario 3D World. it's true the woman in the arcade DK was a woman called Pauline, she is the singer and mayor of new donk city in super mario odyssey. When you write a good story simple or not the age, gender or skin colour wont matter at all. The animation in this Movie was pure 90 minute eye candy and the Music was complete ear candy. Great job all of you.

They're awesome, but they're wrong about princesses never marrying commoners and being this monster of colonialism. There are actually various princesses who married commoners, there's a princesses who even married her own bodyguard. This is not just a Disney thing 😂 It actually happened. The thing is, the guy had to have ACCESS to the princess somehow and that was the hard part not to mention they also had the idea of marrying among royal families only. Many women today have a very different mentality. When princesses married commoners, we can confidently say they married solely because of love, but today many(not all) women only marry men who have more money than them. For women it has always been about hypergamy of some nature, about men's power, but not the kind of power some might think; it was NOT almost solely focused on financial power in the mind of women back then(these classical women still exist and they're not easy, as it should be), it had to do with human skills and values that men had which translated for women as a place where family and happiness would be able to flourish, because even if the guy didn't have a lot of money, women knew he had all the human values not only to get to a good financial safety but most importantly to be able to keep a stably loved and protected family. That was true for most women(the ones I call classic or eternal), poor or rich. What I think lead many of today's women to focus more on the financial power a man has than the human values and virtues, was more than one thing. The first was being ideologically convinced by feminists that they should seek power the same way men do to be equal to them and happier(which didn't happen) and this lead them to put making money and having a career in a way more important spot than for example building a family, which was what most of them had as the most important and fulfilling thing in life(which remains true till this day, just ask any women who decided to pause even the most successful careers they had just to nurture a family, to take care of kids, which of these options is making them happier and more fulfilled). Sure making money brings a great feeling, but money will never be as important as family for women; they all get to that conclusion at one point in their lives, even though today because of how they were lead to think, many realize it late in a moment it's way harder to have kids, which then made another thing popular, that is a whole process of trying to convince their own selves that all those years spent solely on career is somehow making them happier than if they had a family. BUT, it's never too late, they can adopt kids get married and still experience it. It might not be the full feeling and experience but it will be just as meaningful and also great for making society better. So the natural direction of being lead to care much more about having the same financial power as men, of course was to stop judging what a good partner is by looking more to how he IS as a human being, how human virtues and values are important to him, and instead focusing more on how much financial power he has, specially since the increase of consumerism, the rise of plastic surgery which you need to basically be rich to have. But another thing that helped this shift was men themselves. Failed relationships with evil men to be more specific, which women had mostly because feminism taught them to be "s3xually liberated just like men" and that means not saving your most sacred intimacy to men who will love you enough to wait until marriage, therefore making the life of men who only want emotionless, loveleas intercourses infinitely easier, which then lead women to buy even more into the feminist idea that all men are evil which lead them to go even harder on looking more for financial power, because they were lead to believe men of real value can't exist anymore so whenever they think of getting married, they don't bother much on looking for men of real values. But as I said, just like these princesses with incredible human virtues existed in the past, they, as classical women, still exist today, they're just probably most already married or single looking for that classical man she knows still exists and that is still waiting to find her. It might not be the norm of today's fallen world, but we need to seek the ideal, not the mediocre and degrading just because it became the norm, specially if the ideal used to be the norm and what is still very easily achievable today once people restore their faith in goodness and moral excellence. Anyway, I see some of that in Peach and Mario. If a girl like her marries a commoner like Mario, she is definitely the classical woman I'm talking about(is that part of why feminists are attacking the movie?🤔), because it is about duty and love, human values and virtues, ability for literal protection, etc. which don't negate the importance of having money and which is what Mario can bring while still acknowledging that Mario is very good at honestly collecting coins whenever he wants😂.

The more I listen to this the more I realize that the actors have no idea what they're talking about in respect to the games. It wasn't peach in Donkey Kong, it was pauline, and Peach was in the original games, she was just called Princess Toadstool. In Japan I believe she was always called peach. Oh and it was 64 when she was first called Peach, not odyssey.
