Looked back at first, bit I was happy with arrow placement. I'll take the diaphragm any day instead of playing roulette with the shoulder. - Dan

Glad you recovered it, that shot placement was terrible never shoot a moving animal with a bow. With an Elk I would never recover that animal, usually they die from gut shot days later. 2nd for anything other than deer don't use expandable...god bless

I wasn't sure on the shot either but it was in front of the diaphragm (no guts) and stopped on the far-side rib 15" behind the shoulder. The bull went 200 yds. I used a gravedigger broadhead which is a hybrid and perfect application for elk and moose. Big hole = quick kill!

The animal was quartering away heavy. Know your angles. It doesn’t matter where the arrow starts to go in . That was actually a pretty good shot. Elevation was perfect and the arrow pushed forward through liver then lungs. I strongly disagree with you, that would be a fine shot on an elk. Most guys on elk shoot too far forwards and even worse a lot of guys take quartering towards you shots on elk. Also how can you complain about an expandable . That moose died very quickly and he sunk that arrow to the fletch .

Moose hunting with an Arrow suited for Whitetail from a treestand , not very etheical, your penetration was due to the poor impact area, but I`m just happy you found him, he deserved better ,just my opinion,not yours.

His penetration had ZERO to due with impact area.. More about the expandable big cutting diameter , which is also VERY likely the reason he found that moose. With such a big animal and so much cutting diameter I HATE a mechanical head for moose, but it your going to shoot them in the guts, its the best kinda head to have.

I have enough energy for a cape buffalo in my bow setup and a 520 grain arrow. I'll use a hybrid every time and have short tracking jobs, every time on moose sized game and smaller.

Nice bull bro if you hunt them again I'd suggest a single bevel broadhead and 600 grain arrows you'll get way better penetration

I shot my first moose this year also, I got lucky and drew at age 16. Was a crazy fun hunt killed it with my bow.

That's great that you folks shot and retrieved your bull moose. While moose hunting this past season, my hunting partners seen 4 moose with arrows stuck in the...wounded, but still up and wondering...one moose had 2 arrows in it... bow hunting is the challenge of harvesting an animal with and arrow. Personally, I am a rifle hunter when it comes to moose hunting...drop the animal in their tracks.... Nice video...

if it has enough air in his lungs to shout like that then it was not a goot shot. yo should have followed him to put him out of his misery. terrible ethics I'm sorry to say. clear watery blood clear sign on intestines and stomach perforation. Look at the damage to the surrounding vegetation around the body...he died in agony. He certainly didn't just come up there and lay down.

That was a bad shot but moose can absolutely be ethically harvested with a bow. I'm not 100% sure but judging by your comment you likely aren't a hunter so it's probably hard to understand but a for most people the excitement doesn't come from the killing specifically.
