Sam Barrie Absolutely not, Spider-Verse got Peter Parker better than Spider-Man 2 even though Peter Parker was a secondary character in that movie. Sam Raimi tries way too hard to not make it a silly superhero, but Spider-Man is a silly superhero which is why he’s one of the most successful superheroes of all time. Spider-Man, while having depth and meaning to a degree is not the whining charming fella Raimi made out of it period.

Seiichi Himura That’s not it. It’s just not the Spider-Man I grew up reading about or watching on TV. Spider-Man is supposed to be 100% love-able, brave, funny and cheerful. Spider-Man is goofy that’s his point that what made him unique and Raimi took all of that and threw it on to side characters. The movie focused way too much about trying to be deep and profound. It’s exhausting, really.

It's weird how both recent Marvel side movies (Deadpool 2 and Venom) reference DC. But Fox's movie, Deadpool, references Batman, while Sony's Venom referenced Superman.

Because when DC makes references it's just retarded and the lines are cheap and don't sound good at all. When Marvel does it, it's cleaver.

Yeah but remember, the emergence of metahumans in the Arrowverse is supposed to be a VERY recent thing. Comic books with superheroes would have existed for literally DECADES before "real" metahuman superheroes existed. The superheroes are all recent and had to be inspired by something. Since they can't use DC characters because they ARE the DC characters, they used Marvel instead. It makes sense and it also adds a really fun element to the stories. These are friendly, positive references being made, not mean-spirited jabs. If anything, I think that it's showing a lot of respect and class. Elongated man even said "Master Splinter" and "Turtle Power". Now TMNT isn't Marvel or DC, it's Eastman and Laird, although they are playable characters in the DC fighting game "Injustice 2". There are actually quite a few comic book characters in Injustice 2 that aren't DC. Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michaelangelo, Hellboy, Raiden and Sub-Zero are also in it. I think it's only a matter of time before they start referencing Hellboy and Mortal Kombat. Marvel was actually the first to do it. In Sam Raimi's Spider-Man; Aunt Mae tells Peter to be careful because "You're not Superman you know!" which causes a real "WTF?" look on Tobey Maguire's face.

Well that's the same things with other real life heroes like doctors and soldiers

Thats the schtick for these films/shows. They think that these things are just fun and comics until an actual one comes in the room

technically the first atom comic came out in 1961, and the first iron man comic came out in 1963 so they about two years apart so if anything iron man is a rip off of the atom minus the shrinking and ant-man came out in 1962 so a year after the atom

I didn't mean who is rip-off/based on. I was talking about his Arrowverse concept. It was just an exoskeleton. Later Ray have added shrinking. ATOM's base concept(like his future counterpart - Antman) was shrinking isn't it? I didn't read the comics so if ATOM had some exoskeloton-which-doesn't-look-like-tights and later he could shrink then I was mistaken.

The shrinking ability was shown off on Arrow so if you want to know how that happended watch that and not legends of tomorrow
