Comes from an Arsenal Fan: I was in the Arteta out camp for large portions of initial stages, so you ain’t alone Rory. From memory, only Mark Goldbridge (who happens to be a Man Utd fan could see from the start that Arteta was building something) was convinced that Arteta might work for Arsenal and watching his videos, I used to think of him as a clown for supporting Arteta, but how wrong have I been proved. In the hindsight, It is amazing to think how things have turned out for Arteta and Arsenal. Interestingly, all his initial signings were defensive minded (as opposed to Chelsea) - hence a lot of Arsenal fans were frustrated with Arteta’s tactics. For example: Cedric, Auston Trusty, Odegaard(most likely on loan), Pablo Mari, Tomiyasu, Lokonga etc etc. Gabriel Jesus was the first striker Arteta got after >2 years at the club.

Arsenal fan here: I was doubtful about Raya. I had been a fan of Kai since Leverkusen days so I was excited about him but was shocked at the price. But I reached the state you have with arteta a year ago. So I didn't doubt the signings.

Arsenal wanted Raya and Toney for a long time. Way before Ramsdale arrived. It's just Brentford that was reluctant to sell. The thing about Arteta is that once he targets a player, he never forgets about it. Take Mudryk as an example. If tomorrow chelsea puts him on a transfer list, Arsenal will try to get him. This is a highly underrated transfer strategy. It also guarantees the player's total commitment to the club.

Raya/Ramsdale: Ramsdale is probably the better shotstopper but Arsenal are concentrating on denying shots to the opposition. Therefore, the keeper must be selected on his ability to play out from the back. Hence Raya. If there are no shots, why pick the shot-stopper?

Odegaard and Gabriel deserve due props. I feel Rice and Saliba are more fan favourites, even though they deserve respect. I just think the initial two are the engine room of this whole Arsenal team. Either player deserve Arsenal POTY, with Rice in 3rd, White in 4th, Saka/Saliba 5th. Most improved has to go to Havertz. Raya for 2nd and I would select Kiwior as a potential candidate to win but he hasn't played as many games as Havertz. The rest can go back to training while these guys have a day off.
