@bhavss14, the problem Osimhen had at afcon was the formation. The COACH was over defensive. So the guy was isolated upfront throughout the tornament. And that was the main reason Nigeria lost that final. It will be unfair judging him with afcon turnout

People used to say Arteta doesn’t have a back up plan. But with a squad that has more solid depth, I can now count three different set ups we have that work against different kinds of teams. We’re growing every year with Arteta. We’ll win big trophies within the next 4 years. No doubt

@@thepurplesband I think the Jorginho/Rice constellation might work for that. We seem to employ that particular set up when we expect teams to play higher up on the pitch. Our midfield ends up being slightly flatter in shape, but it gives us a width with which we can find more angles for direct passes from midfield. For me, this is probably how I’d try to punish that mid block.

@@snaggiz agreed. J20 should have been played for Porto but maybe he wasn’t 100%. But Newcastle didn’t press with the same intensity as Porto, so we will see. But yeah the team are far better at adjusting during a game - they don’t even need a half time talk to make the tactical changes.

@@thepurplesband Yeah, we tend to adapt much better to each game that we play which is a huge plus. Besides that, Porto did something no other team has tried vs us and I think it created a bit of a tactical mismatch and confusion for our players. But I completely trust that we will have figured out a solution by the time we play them next time. If they dare to try a low block, they’ll get battered so I think they’re really banking on this working a second time for them but I think it’s a one off purely because no one else has tried a mid block against us.

Nah im gomna say it, i told yall about havertz fam! I said give him a full season and he didn't even need that. We are too negative at times and if you were a Havertz/Arteta doubter hold that! Been saying since last year Gabriel is almost as good as Saliba he's just less elegant, but he scores. So what's different now, is it that AFC won? I'm desperate to know what he did in the matches we won that he wasn't doing b4. We all know nobody criticised him for not scoring goals cos he's never been a goal scoring footballer so no one could have claimed he was brought to AFC to be their main goal threat. So u armchair KZfaq football experts should stop confusing issues. That Havertz scores can't and should never be a reason to overlook his dreadful overall play; garbage any day.

Interesting about Gabriel. I like that no one can push him around. He is solid, strong, big and fearless. Saliba is more elegant but a pushy striker can mess him about. There is a softness about him. He needs to toughen up, let strikers fret on playing against him., like Vidic and Ferdinand. No natural full backs in Arsenal. All our defenders are CBs and one AM (Zinchenko) who can play full back: Tomyasu, White, Timbre, Kiwior, Saliba and Gabriel . The only real fullback is Tierney and he is on loan in Spain, unless you want to count Cedric who is just collecting his wages at the club - talk of agent power. Man C has similar set up. Its defenders play a cross the backline. For strikers, Osimhen is the real deal: he is a live bullet. At Afcon he was not services and fed off scraps - and had three disallowed goals . At Arsenal he will explode like Haaland. His buyout clause is rather high. Dispose of 10: Nketiah (25m) Reiss (20m), Elneny (free), Cedric (free) Lokonga (15m), Ramsdale (35m), Tavares(10m), Tierney (20m), Partey( (25m), Runnerson (GK) =150m. Recruit 3: Osimhen (100m), Pedro Neto (50), Onana or Douglas Luiz (50m) = N200m . Net spend: N50m

On the Gyökeres stuff.. people tend to forget or just don’t realise he isn’t unfamiliar with the league and the culture, he was with Brighton for a couple of seasons, he was just criminally under and miss used by then manager Chris Houghton. I always rated him and was rather annoyed when Brighton allowed him to go. Would almost have an ‘unfinished business’ attitude if The Arsenal were able to get him

It's funny how we hear different stories almost each week about the Gunners. In January, we were told that both Timber and Partey would be back playing by the end of March. And though Partey looks like he might be on the pitch soon, Arteta now says that Timber _"might"_ be back by the end of the season? _Regardless. Let's talk about Newcastle._ *We let Newcastle off the hook on Saturday.* OK! We scored 4, but we should have scored 8. *We blitzed them in the first half.* They just couldn't cope with our tempo, pressing, movement and passing and if we'd had just a little more luck _(Or even that 20+ goals a season striker that we've been crying out for for the last 3 years!),_ we would have been at least 6 or 7-0 up by half time. *#COYGsince66*
