Rice ticks every single box for Arsenal. Literally. Homegrown, Leader, Incredible ball progression, Good passer, Breaks up play at an elite level. Arsenal wanted their guy no matter the price. The reason he's 100 mil is he's genuinely in Rodri's territory as a DM. He improves Arsenal, allows them to quietly shuttle Partey out the back door, and is likely the future England captain. I get you have an opinion on him and it's 1000% valid with the way he treated Ireland, but Rice is already one of the best DMs in the world with room to improve. His numbers suggest that he is one of and if not the best defensive midfielder in the Europe's top 5 leagues. I mean he is the only one to have more than 30 interception in the season and he has 63! It isn't a big sinning because of the player he is but because it's a statement that Arsenal can fight for and get big players. Plus if both Pep and Arteta were willing to pay 90 million for him maybe they know a thing or two more about football than us.

For the record if City were ever serious about signing him, he only joined Arsenal over them because he's scared of moving away from home. Also, while I do think it's a good signing absolutely, things like interception numbers don't necessarily mean the player is better. There was a point in time where Van Dijk averaged about a tackle per game and he was still terrifying to come up against. Obviously the only competent defensive midfielder on the team is putting in a defensive shift.

Tchouameni is a great player although in my opinion worse than rice (not by much just minor difference) but i dont think he would bring the afformentioned skills of personality, leadership and allowance for other players to shine which is the main reason i suggested rice was a good buy, i would also say that rice is a big statement buy in the way that despite man city and bayern munich being interested he chose arsenal which for arteta's project will add a level of credance and potentially inspire others to place their trust in him too. As for lavia and saint maximan given he went over the price payed for players to compare them i shall too and we'll say swap havertz for both of these. Edit - i also doubt they'd be able to buy tchouameni for anything less than 95 mil and even then i dont believe he would choose to move to arsenal.

@harrydifelice7693 Jude Bellingham could've also represented Ireland through his grandfather. Remember the Bellingham is not signing for Liverpool video?
@harrydifelice769311 ай бұрын
@@ashtongodfrin6999 Ah dam crazy. Didn't watch that video. Tbf it is different though. Rice quite literally played for the senior Ireland team and then ditched them when his hype started to grow. Pretty poor tbh.
@ashtongodfrin699911 ай бұрын
@@harrydifelice7693 It would've been weird seeing Jude playing for Ireland as well. They would've had to have made him play alongside Rice in the game against Turkey in 2018 as a 14 year old.
@victorkreig608911 ай бұрын
They could have gotten Tchouameni and been in ten times a better position Madrid is bloated on midfield so there's no ready to believe they wouldn't have accepted a 15 million bump

The price is the price, its worth what you think its worth. Rice could decide to phone it in next week and do fuck all and it would change nothing but our perception. In essence the price is only an indication of how much Arsenal wanted him.

Irish got is extra upset because that's now 2 ex Ireland players who switched to england, & were then sold for £100m & have won eu trophies for their clubs

Question: Do you think Jude Bellingham is a 100 mil midfielder?
@raihaanmohammad432811 ай бұрын
It's not up to anyone but the club they're playing for to set a asking price. I think Bellingham and rice are top midfielders but both have ridiculous price tags due to west ham and dortmund.
@alexanderbachert560811 ай бұрын
Agreed but was wondering if Bellingham > Rice is generally the concensus or not. Jude pops in with important goals and plays for a CL club already
@raihaanmohammad432811 ай бұрын
@@alexanderbachert5608 it's the roles they play, rice at west ham was asked to do a defensive role whilst Bellingham had more freedom to go forward. But both top players.

Rice is good, but his england history and purely because he plays next to a player who is actually worth £100million for england, he has got this transfer fee

Bitter Irishman, I'm a United fan and Rice will give Arsenal true leadership in the midfield.
@m4dm3th0d11 ай бұрын
Let's be honest, the transfer fee is a combination of player value (skills + check boxes) and the financial situation of the clubs involved. With how much money each Premier League club has, it's no wonder West Ham would that much for a key player from a CITY RIVAL.
@raihaanmohammad432811 ай бұрын
How are people saying its overpaying when west ham demanded for 100 mill and arsenal paid it. Bellingham is a top midfielder but if he werent as hyped up would he be 100m? I dont think its up to the player or the club that want them. Its up to west ham and dortmund because they own them.
@victorkreig608911 ай бұрын
Rice is worth about 70 million The hammers offered him 83 and he said no They put their price at 100 million just to get United to stop asking about him it was never meant to be a serious number I swear you people would believe the scrawlings on a bathroom stall door
