So this was published 2 years ago with your conviction that Spurs would soon be in the Champions League, well they finally made it this season after being pretty mediocre in the Europa League. They soon got their arses dumped out of the Champions League and so here they go back to the Europa League next year. A very different story to that of Arsenal who have been in CL for past 16 years. This year we won our group. We are growing all the time. Oh and they are taking an age to build their stadium!

but we'd still have World Class players cuz there'd be no stadium debt to balance, and ultimately its a situation where the fans don't like the ticket prices but wouldn't mind it if we were still winning things and were successful.
@jamess67879 жыл бұрын
No, I don;t think so. Football changed after we built Emirates, it's not our fault we had to sell to manage that debt for a while. We're very strong financially now, I don;t fear Sanchez or Ozil leaving in the summer, more likely we'll keep adding every year to what we've got.

Speaking as a Liverpool fan, of all the old stadiums Highbury is the one I miss most (the rest were largely dumps). The confined space of the pitch, the carpet like surface, marble halls, each stand unique (north bank, clock end)...the place screamed Arsenal. I hate to say it but Arsenal have lost so much of their identity. Yes the new stadium is state of the art, but it lacks character (only difference between it and Benfica's is a clock). The generic bowl design means you could be anywhere. I'm ectstatic we have remained at Anfield and just renovated the main stand...you know where you are when you are at Anfield. The four different sized stands (which compliment each other), the Kop, Shankly gates, Hillsborough memorial..even the this is Anfield sign is being kept for the tunnel entrance. Anfield, Old Trafford and Highbury were the three iconic club grounds in English football.

I am from Brazil and i'm a Flamengo fan, so i know what it's like for a team to have such a deep connection with a stadium, and it's just wonderful. But i remember that back in 2004, i was starting to like football and my dad had just put cable tv in our home. So the first international game i ever watched was an Arsenal game, i don't remember exactly against who, but i remember Arsenal won by a landslide. As always, Henry gave a show on how to be one of the best strikers of all time, and the game was on Highbury. The energy from the crowd, that amazing team with Henry, Pires, Touré, Reyes, Fabregas, Lehmann, i fell in love with Arsenal, and it was an emotional moment when they abandoned that stadium to Emirates. 12 years later, i still care so much for Arsenal, as much as i care for Flamengo, my country team. We are 4 points behind of the leader on the league table with 7 matches left to the end of the league, and we are playing one of the biggest classics in the country against Corinthians, and the Maracanã will be reopened today after one long year, and the line between these two moments is really thin and blurry, one of the reasons i identify so much with Arsenal. 70000 people screaming in passion, being brought back home. Just like Arsenal, the passion, the greed to win big matches, that's why i love Arsenal. 12 years later, Arsenal still has my heart.

Highbury was home because for decades working class people went there without worrying about how much the ticket would cost. By the late 80s the North Bank was around 4 pounds a game. Football changed in the late 90s

Sad that the promise of moving away from this beautiful gem to that stale oval was the ability to sign players, and still 10 years on there's been no equivalent of the team that went to the CL final that season, or the invicibles a few seasons before that, with Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira, Campbell, Cole, Ljundberg, Fabregas, Van Persie, etc. There's hardly a player from today's teams that you would take over any of the players from back then. Even Özil and Sanches would have a hard time replacing Bergkamp, Ljundberg, etc. of back then. What a travesty.

We moved from Highbury, which was similar to Anfield, but there was a soul in the stadium. - Arsene Wenger

Such a shame they built a plastic, soulless stadium instead. The move was warranted, but the designers made no character in the new stadium, sadly. It's dull, the atmosphere is dull.

Went to the Spurs match at home this season (1-1 game) and the atmosphere was brilliant BUT only one thought was on my mind afterwards, row in front of me a young Chinese couple were hugging each other all match taking selfies all game, the game against West Ham the other day there was a pic doing the rounds on Twitter of another Chinese couple sleeping! Whilst tourists and corporate wankers will always be there, because let's face it, Arsenal are a big club now so we just have to accept this will occur but in terms of atmosphere I think things can be done i.e. singing sections as much as it's cringe for me to call it that because we're not gonna see standing terraces any time soon

Had that video lasted much longer, I would have teared up. I am sick at how soul-less, corporate and money-grabbing The Arsenal has become. Cashburton is filled with Tarquins and tourists. Even our manager turned into a dictator after the sacking of Dein and refused to spend the money that was always there (the austerity was a lie) and is stuck in his ways, obsessed with his vanity projects and is now committed to awful sideways football and even worse defending. Now we bottle it season after season under a manager who won't realize his time is long over and are stuck with a disinterested owner (and puppet board) who only cares for money and won't make a change. Where did our Arsenal go? It was abandoned with Highbury.

The day Arsenal as a club went the other way round. It’s a shame really we were unbeaten but I can see arteta finally doing something after 16 yrs as if u can win the fa cup in 6/7 months beat Man City Liverpool Chelsea Wolves that is really amazing he’s doing a massive clear out of the squad and will sell 9/8 players this transfer window he’s looking to build the team around Aubameang as he might sadly sell Lacazette Bellerin Holding Gwendouzi and some others bring in Uepcomeo (I don’t know how to spell his name he also is a CB) He bringing in Coutinho and there’s been talks of Partey as well and Auba wants arteta to get Ousmane Dembele and I can see arteta changing the mindset of these players to become one of the best clubs in the world hopefully this will happen
