Why did you edit out the original video for both Platt's and Vieira's goals?

Yes. They had the blend just perfect. The Invincibles used to walk the ball in the net and in tight games could be frustrating to watch. The hardly ever shot from outside the box. This team was a bit more raw, aggresive, direct, defensively sound. This defence was better than the Invincibles who relied heavily of the attacking prowess of the team to be their defense imo Petit>Gilbert Overmars >Ljungberg or Pires Although -Ljungberg, Pires > Ray Parlour The difference between the teams is one other to replace Ray Parlour, either Pires or Freddie. Thierry Henry is the biggest difference though.

You know , I can't get enough of the football from this Era. The players were 10 x more charismatic as that bunch overpayed multi mjllionairs who perform their circus tricks and seem to have all kind of secret help from something or someone far above our heads . At least , half of them seems to be praying to a footballgod of somekind. Must be some new religion . No , back to the days when football was exiting and nail-biting nerve-wracking . And you went home after a match full of adrenaline .Nowadays I watch a good game that I've forgotten 5 minutes later . There was less football on tv back then , but it had much more impact than nowadays . Still entertaining , absolutely , but not like then .

Sir Alex Ferguson , saw an interview last night with him. Our "Sir" used the word fu'kin' at least 35 times within 7 minutes of conversation . And I only started counting when I noticed he used it that often . Too bad I 've always hated ManU, for he was a funny , funny man. Not intentionally , of course , but still , fucking funny . 😆 And it became even better after the arrival of monsieur Arsene Wenger . They became the comic duo of football. One of the many reasons why I've always loved British football. 😍

Remember this match well. The premier league today can't hope to match the intensity and atmosphere in the stands from back then. What we now have is a very corporate and sanitised version of football. Also Highbury is sorely missed. The Emirates is a great arena, but it can never hope to match the character or history of Highbury. Highbury had so much character, four uniquely different stands, one being a grade 2 listed building. I look back fondly on such a stadium.

While going forward and in attack Wenger was unmatched in finding attacking midfielders and strikers, in defence he really did make some shocking signings. Gilles Grimandi, Remi Garde, Nelson Vivas, Oleg Luzhniy, Igor Stepanovs, Pascal Cygan etc Grimandi was almost completely at fault for the 2 Sheringham goals.

What is it about ManUtd going to London to play their title rival in early November and losing controversially to a team with Anelka in and being denied a stonewall pen & conceding a late header that loses them the game and ultimately the title by 1 point after another narrow late loss to that team at OldTrafford in the Spring which costs them an unprecedented number of PL title's in a row.

@hailyrizzo54289 ай бұрын
Pally old? How old was Adams, Winterburn and Dixon compared to Pallister? And Arsenal was playing Giles Grimandi.
@FootkerSnookball7 ай бұрын
@terryloker2585 HenningBerg was a new signing he'd already won the PL with Blackburn, who did you expect ManUtd to play there Stam? Ferdinand? these players weren't in the ManUtd team yet. Johnsen I suppose could've started but maybe it was squad rotation. I think DavidMay & Johnsen had been involved in some heavy defeats the year earlier though and Pallister had had a longer ManUtd career as a starter but Johnsen was the more preferred choice to May and could also play defensive midfield. I remember Pallister struggling in this game and vs Liverpool at OldTrafford etc...but he was actually the only ManUtd centre-back who started all the games he played that season and he had the most appearences out of all the CB's (33, at age 32). ManUtd did still have the best defence record only conceding 26 goals. This was only a few days after Irwin got injured in ChampionsLeague away to Feyenoord when Bosvelt got to be subbed off before getting a 2nd booking after he nearly broke Irwin's leg. P.Neville was a good enough replacement most of the time. He contributed a lot to the PL/FAcup double 2 seasons earlier than this, as did all these English ManUtd players apart from Sheringham who was a new signing replacing Cantona who'd decided to retire after the 1996/97 season. Keane was injured from September 1997 for the rest of the 8months of the season. This was Pallister's last season at ManUtd he had back problems so that's probably why the likes of Adams who's about a year year&a half older & had alcohol problems but still along with Dixon played for Arsenal for another nearly 5 more seasons to get another PL/FAcup double in 2001/02 and Dixon was 2 years older than Pallister.... Winterburn about the same age he left Arsenal in 2000 but still played in PL for other team until 2003 Pallister played for Middlesbrough in the 3 seasons ManUtd were 3-peating & winning the treble etc....then he retired in 2001. But in regards to what Ferguson's thinking was to start Pallister in this game probably his experience and also he had played at Anfield 96/97 vs title challengers Liverpool 7months earlier and ManUtd won 1-3 with him scoring a brace which basically won ManUtd the league. Also SteveBruce was nearly a full 5 years older than Pallister and he only left ManUtd just over 1 year before this game. DavidMay had been involved a lot the previous 2 seasons as CB but would be a rare starter from this season onwards until he left. But ManUtd had loads if injury problems that season, even Johnsen got injured as well. So did Giggs & Schmeichel ontop of the other ones mentioned. Cantona had never lost a league title in England that he'd finished so that was a blow to have him retire after his first & only season as the official captain and then Keane was made regular captain and he gets injured and misses most of the season. ManUtd also sold Poborsky mid-season and at that point ManUtd thought they were ok despite this loss which did turn out crucial. Ended up having to play JohnCurtis in games who struggled, BenThornley, a very inexperienced WesBrown etc...Poborsky wasn't a regular but he was better backup than a Thornley. ManUtd still would've won the 97/98 title despite the many injury problems if they got the pen at 10:53 because Arsenal needed to take maximum points home&away from ManUtd to stand any chance that season. Anyway Ferguson learned from this. He made sure there was plenty of strength in depth the following season.
