Amazing work, Barbara. It turned out beautifully! The pages inside are so nice-you put so much effort into them. I can’t imagine how you will add more to them! When you work in this journal I hope you will let us watch. I can’t wait to see how you use it. I think you must be exhausted-it was a demanding project!

I love the way this turned out! All of the colors are so earthy in a spring/summer pallet with the gold to highlight. Just beautiful!

Morning Barbara, what a beautiful journal. The actual binding looked to be very difficult, I don't think I am up to THAT yet, but we will get there in time. Barbara, I have explained to you before the surgeon’s knot which would be so good to use for tying in your signatures. Putting the thread through the first loop of a knot twice, holds the first knot tight while you tie the second knot. PLEASE try it!! I love all the signatures and it’s going to be a sweet journal! I just assembled my first open-spine journal, and it was so fun! (and stressful, lol) Instead of 3 straps, I used 2 wide ones. (Book is 18cm or 7 1/4 inch long) I sewed them onto existing holes of the center of the signature. So, I'm left with the original 5-hole pamphlet stitch centers. I simply love all your videos - thanks so much, Barbara!

Beautiful journal Barbara. 😍 When I'm using embroidery floss to sew in signatures I don't cut it to to length until I've tied it at the end, this cuts out wastage. ☺️

It's Gorgeous! I love the added material around each signature over the stitches. That Really dresses it up! 😍 I've only done 1 open spine so far, and yes, they are a little complicated.

Oh my goodness, this jurnal has such elegance and chic to it! Love it! And the technics used are really inspiring :) And can be tweaked even further! I want to try what happens if I bind it before decorating the cover (that would be done last), gluing the strips not to the inside, but to the outside of the cover. Even more: the middle strip then could be extra long, so it could be tied as a closure. So many possibilities!

Quick tip, when knotting wrap around twice before pulling the first knot. It will stay tight and won’t move. 🥰

If you double wrap the first half of the square knot (cross the threads and tuck through under the X twice before pulling tight) it’ll lock it in place for the second part of the knot. It is a helpful trick for those of us without 3 hands!

Barbara this is such a unique journal. I am currently learning the different art movements in a class and I wish I would have researched the Art Nouveau in more detail. When I first read of this movement I was not particularly as fond of the art, but seeing how you designed this journal in this era it made the movement more appealing to me. I love when you give us a little history on different things you use in your journals and I would love if you could add a brief history of the art movements you are using. I definitely would like to make a similar journal with this art movement in the future. 😊
