Actually (this is extra stuff Matt's talked about, I don't think it comes up on any of the streams) the whole reason Artagan was stuck in the Fey Wild to begin with is because he'd been banished there after he tried starting a cult before. So it's pretty par for the course for him.

C2 is great, but honestly, I don't think it ever hit the level of WTF C1 did because half the WTF moments came from being a bit too loose with the game play Cough cough Keyfish cough cough, and the other half was from Matt's batshit awesome improv on top of their slightly looser game play. They had 2 clerics in C2, (or 1 1/2 ;), but Caduceus can count as 1 1/2 clerics and Jester can count as 1/2 a cleric so the math still works lol) one of whom is a GRAVE cleric, so even when the stakes were really high, they never felt Q U I T E as high as Vox "Our Cleric is busy doing a job for Sarenrae" Machina. Seriously, this is the group that went to hell and didn't bring a Cleric, then forgot to protect the one person that could get them OUT of Hell, Thus (According to a slightly wide eyed Matt Mercer himself!) almost ending the campaign a liiiiiiittle bit earlier than intended!

Spoilers for C2!! I feel like this moment had a lot of sway in his decision to "become a god". To have someone who has that much faith in you. Must've been tempting.
