I live in South Florida so I’ve painted my share of palms. I use a couple sizes of filbert brushes for the fronds. I hold the brush perpendicular to the paper. They hold a lot of paint so you don’t run out halfway through the frond. By rotating the brush as you go you can get some nice variation of the leaves.

Hi Paul! I loved the snow effects with the masking fluid, I want to give that a go. I have masking but haven’t used it much. I found this helpful for ways to test it out. Also the abstract trees were brilliant. Loved that technique and can’t wait to give it a go! Thanks for sharing.

Oh my gosh Paul I am in awe of your work and techniques that you use! I watched your grasses tutorial first and couldn’t stop there so moved on to trees! I really love and so want to master mountain landscapes. Also barns and wildflowers. At 67 years young I am just beginning my watercolor journey with no prior experience at all. A little overwhelming indeed but am convinced with the higher end supplies, lots of practice and the wonderful tutorials of yours I’ll be well on my way!
